Greet all !!

As you'll expect from the title - I'm rigging up a macerator system using ideas from several posted solutions...

The SHURflo has a 1.5" inlet and a 1.0 outlet - need the eccentric reducer.

The FLOJET has a 3.0" inlet and a 1.5 outlet - no reducer needed...

Anyone been here before ?? What did you select and why ??

As always, THANK YOU all for the wealth of information and expertise.

Just a matter of opinion. I have the big inlet on ours. Whichever way you go, make sure the inlet hole to the maserator is on the bottom. Mine is mounted upside down to the floor. So, I have to open it and get the inlet hole on bottom. That puts the outlet on top.

Steve,

Go to the Photo Site and look at : http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g6005-macerator-innards.html

IIRC mr. erf also has some info on macerators.

Thank you Rob !!

I completely understand that I'll have to rotate the housing to get that inlet slot properly positioned.

From your pictures - it looks like yours has the 3" inlet. Correct??

mine does. Don't know about Robs. I run Jabsco pump because Jim K has kits. Not sure about parts on the others but I am sure they are available.
Try to keep the mount ans running of hoses as simple as possible. Never know when you may need to remove the pump.

Robs pics indicate he does not run the large opening.

Here is my macerator install on a 73, 23 ft.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g5767-macerator-for-73-23-ft-coach.html

I used a Jabsco with 1 1/2 inch inlet and 1 inch discharge.
A 1 inch discharge hose will fit in a 1 1/2 inch conduit for storage.

No need to rotate the macerator head if you install "right side up".

If your coach is an early 73 it may not have the removable piece on the frame crossmember -- I used a rubber 3 inch sweep tee on order to squeeze it into the crossmember center hole.

Other notes on the photos.

Dennis

You might want to look at a Jabsco. They are more widely used and probably easier to find parts if needed.

They come in 1-1/2 and 3 inch inlets.

Using a reducer is no problem just be site to turn it so that the 1-1/2 is in the lowest position.

Years ago I installed mine using an adapter for the 1" outlet to put on a 3/4" garden hose. I purchased a 50' industrial rated hose from Home Depot and cut it in half. I mounted the half with the male hose nipple and then mounted a 1-1/4" piece of conduit alone the driver's side frame so that I could just feed the hose into the conduit for storage.

I rulled up the other 25' piece and store it in the propane compartment. When I need a longer hose to reach, for example, a sewer cleanet at someone's house, I can just screw the other piece on the end. Once I had to buy a cheap plastic 5/8" 50 foot garden hose to make it even longer. I had no problem even with the 5/8" extension.

The 3/4" has worked very well over the years.

We sell a kit but we will show and tell you how to do it.
You are not obligated to purchase anything.

Steve,

That's the 1 1/2" inlet.

I'm having trouble getting enough bandwidth to find more photos in my albums, somewhere I've got some showing the whole setup under
the Avion. It might help you with your GMC.

Regards,
Rob M.

Thank you all for your replies.

Dennis - great tip on the ability to store a 1" discharge hose in a 1.5" conduit... that's very appealing.

Jim K - thanks - I'll call tomorrow. And... did Nick share that bag of chocolate chip cookies?? If not - be sure to ask him about it.

Thanks again,
Steve W
