Where can I get a rebuild kit for an OEM carburetor? Is there a specific kit number? What is the approximate cost? I will call Applied GMC. Thanks for any help.

Les,
There is Frank's article on the old GMC Western States site...
http://gmcws.org/Tech/quadrajet/index_files/frame.htm
and in the members section of GMCMI there are several good files on the carb.

I highly recommend finding the throttle plate screws, I forget what size...very small. The throttle plate threads are staked an MUST be filed flat to the shaft to get them out. This will allow you to remove the throttle shafts to shim them. Very sloppy design. I had a hard time finding .010" shim material...until I found I had about 75 feet of it...I used the plastic weatherstrip material, the kind that you fold in half lengthwise and stick to door or window jam...it is exactly .010" and cut properly and rolled into a cylinder will slide right in. I gained 1" vacuum after rebuilding carb and finding the shafts loose. There are lots of articles on the web.
