Hi folks,

My waste tank mounts are pretty busted up -

This pic shows the mount
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/black-gate-valve-repair/p2282.html

The bolt receivers on my white tank/valve mount are cracked. Am I looking at a new tank or can the mount be rebuilt? The thin white valve right at my tank is stuck open (valve after macerator still works) which I would replace when I rework all this. Options?

Thanks

Later in that same set of pictures may be one answer for me

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/black-gate-valve-repair/p2286.html

it looks like that setup does not need the screw mounts on the tank side.

Any other solutions?
Thanks

Tyler,
The mounting flange on your tank is in good condition. The bolt ears are not broken off and they are 1/4" NC bolts thread. You have the wrong style valve to mount on the tank. Your looking for a wafer style valve that fits between 2 flanges if you want to go original.

If you have the original valve you can get a repair kit that works well, I have done several.
http://www.amazon.com/Thetford-03827-Slide-EZ-Stainless-Repair/dp/B0006H93BE

You show a black cvpvc fitting and a nylon fitting, they typically do not play well together. It will take an epoxy type adhesive that is compatible for both materials.

If you can get the two materials to bond good then you can use the other valve that you already have and there are handle extension available to move the T-handle out to the frame rail where you can get at it. Valterra Part# T1046-10vp and Valterra also has cable actuated waste valves, See there website:

Here is a photo and fix by Emery -- drill through the lower flange and use long bolts not screws.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/electric-dump-valve-and-valtera-adapter/p3440.html

The adapter Emery used does not seem to be available now -- so, if you need to replace the Thetford valve -- about $60-70 -- you might consider a new black tank which would accept the lower cost Valterra -- about $14.

Emery,
This was the change when he installed a macerator and moved the valve away from the tank, but this style repair could be used with the original valve. If you do work in this area be sure to use 316 ss bolts and nuts and washers. As Dennis has said, that would be the adapter to use as it uses an O-ring to provide the seal. I need to check with my local RV shop, he always has stuff hiding around.

Thanks guys, failed to clarify early those were not my pictures, but merely for reference...but your answers still gave me what I need to plan.

Unfortunately I think my tank already has had the revision Dennis pointed to by Emery, it has the long bolts with flange, and the drilled out tank pieces are broken open, and the top pieces are pulled apart too.

The epoxy is a logical solution for nylon to black plastic, but if that piece isn't available, I may have to do some nosing around as well! I am about to learn if gloppy silicone will last at least one more trip - ha!
