Hey John,
What breakers are you talking about? And what is a upfit coach?

John,
If you have the original box, it will fit anybodies NEMA 1 inch breakers. The only one that is not a Lowes Despot part is the 40/20 that makes the main and two circuits. If you need that one, good luck.

That was one real good idea on GM's part. NEMA 1 inch were relatively new, but as it was an open standard, it was pretty obvious that all the majors were jumping into the standard. Some tried to make boxes that would only mount their breakers, but those can usually be by-passed with a Dermal tool and 30 seconds.

Larry, GM upfit was to represent coaches finished out by GM. These coaches had the 50 amp cord and the plug in arrangement for connection to the Onan. My first coach was a 77 Palm Beach that had this which is nice simple arrangement. I am converting my Coachman upfit to this arrangement. Coachman had a weird single buss design which included you could only run 2 roof airs when power was supplied by the Onan. The GM up fit had what is called a "shared neutral" because of the 240 volts. This requires a 2 bus type breaker box which I recently purchased for cheap but had no breakers. I just got back from Fleet Farm and learned that Cutler Hammer breakers fit nicely. However with a 2 pole main I can only get 4 circuits, ( using "twins" ) in the 2 remaining slots.

Now thanks to Matt, If I were to find the odd ball main/regular breakers that are tied together, I would pick up space for 2 more circuits. I can make 4 circuits work but I'll find out if have any luck. I would prefer the 6 circuits and the compact box size.

Matt, Do you know what the Bryant/Westinghouse/ Cutler Hammer number is for this odd breaker? Thanks again

Larry,

I have never even seen a 40-20 duplex in a catalog. And you need/want 2 of opposite hand. It would not surprise if they were specials for the build. If JimK can't supply those breakers, your only hope maybe to find the pair from a broken coach. I almost forgot - you might try Cinnabar$.

Good Luck

Matt and Larry,
I don't know for sure as I haven't ordered it, mainly because I wasn't smart enough to know what a quad breaker was when I was replacing some breakers for my inverter project. But, after looking at it some more, I think this might work.

Try this place: (in scenic Flint, MI, although I had mine shipped)
<http://www.aplussupply.com/break/cut/br/br.htm>

look at the # BQ2402120 sort of midway down the page.

It's not clear to me if the 2 40 amp ones used for the mains are in the center, with the 2 outer ones as load circuits, but I think they are. Apparently they use them a lot in mobile homes, which there are a lot of in Flint . . .
