I don't really mean for this to be a weekly blog update, but it seems to be
working out that way; Verizon doesn't always let me get on line with the
MiFi.

Ken,

I have a Verizon UML-290 USB Modem but was thinking of getting their Wi-Fi modem that creates a Wi-Fi spot that allows up to 10
items to connect to it.

Is that the device you're having problems with?

Regards,
Rob M.

Rob,

Yes, the Novatel 4620LTE Jetpack is the unit I have. But don't
misunderstand my "complaints" -- they stem from my having not had coverage
in some pretty outrageous locations, places where everyone reported no
voice coverage either. Even in some of those, I've sometimes had
surprisingly good, if intermittent, reception. I'm still an enthusiastic
owner/user.

I bought this unit and service from Millenicom.com. $99 for the unit + $15
shipping + $49.99 setup + $69.99 monthly fee prorated for the remaining
part of the sign-up month. No contract. $15 restart fee after hiatus.
20GB, of which Dennis and I've used up to 16.8GB.

They also have a couple of "unlimited" (50GB) plans at the same monthly
price, including BYOD, but those use "lesser" carriers than Verizon, who
are the real providers for my plan (the Jetpack even bears their logos).
You need to talk to them before making a choice.

I could only be happier if the service was free and offered uninterruptible
worldwide service.

Rob, the unit has a provision for an external antenna. I have a Wilson Trucker on the roof of our GMC. Works great. But, out where Ken is coverage is spotty, I am sure. We always had to use an external antenna with ATT phone when in Tillamook area of Oregon. Our internet is Verizon but we have not used this unit in the area where Ken is. Our other modem worked fine in Tillamook with Verizon and the trucker antenna.
Ken, I have been in that rv park many times in Garibaldi. If you are there Friday they have a free jam session on Friday evenings at the city hall, in back.

Glad you enjoyed Garibaldi, Ken. Bob and I have spent a night or two there
three different times. The whole coast is breathtaking. Sure enjoying
your updates.
