We lost out little Trevor yesterday. Good God it hurts.
He was our constant companion and a friend to everyone. An eager traveller he went with us on every motor trip and had a preferred suite at the Disneyland kennel.
I often turn to the GMC Net to distract me from daily troubles but it just not working today.
Even though he was frequently under foot he was never in the way. He would greet the world wagging his tail and would always get excited for a treat.
My sister in law, who is an animal nut, brought him to us as a puppy from Providence, RI. Even as a puppy he was a good traveller. He was a damned handsome Pekingese but not yappy like small dogs can be. Docile - my wife called him a blanket - but happy to follow you, or at least ride in his baby carriage - so long as he was near you.
I miss him.
I'm sorry for this off topic post, but I've seen miracles here and hope, not for a miracle, but for a little comfort.

Larry,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have been there several times and don't look
forward to the next.
People laugh at me when I tell them that my little buddy Tigger is a part of
the family. She goes with me everywhere and is by my side in the workshop
most of the time. She is a diabetic (2 1/2 years) and the workload to keep
her alive is very high but worth it. You would never know that she is a
diabetic though - still thinks that she is a German Shepherd (though her
Chihuahua/terrier mix frame confuses people).
As you know, time will ease the pain, but for the time being enjoy the
memories of Trevor. As I say to myself often - This too shall pass.

The most comfort I've ever found is in the memories, which can last forever. Another is knowing though not for those left behind, all pain or fear is over for Trevor.
I'm very very sorry for the pain you feel. It WILL get better, slowly.

I'm so sorry, Larry. It's pointless to try to describe what you're feeling to a non-dog person - there's really nothing akin to it that I've experienced. Jimmy Stewart had some beautiful words about losing his dog on the Johnny Carson show, some thirty odd years ago, maybe it will help. Have some tissues ready.

The loss of a faithful companion that has installed himself into your heart is a sad moment. I'm sure that He had a great life with you and your family and is waiting for you in the great doggie playground in the sky.
He will live forever in your heart, and is just near you when you think his name. Just around the corner, in your heart forever.

There's always a shock when we are confronted with the fact that we don't control what's "normal" even though we are immersed in it daily. Part of grief is moving on towards the new normal, which will be mixed with joy and sadness, but over which we'll have just as little control. May the Lord send you replacement joy quickly.

John Edwards is a psychic that used to a television thing...
Whether he was real or not is not an issue, but when talking of those passed, he frequently mentioned that a pet was there with them. I hope it is true. I still miss my Bear.
