It is with a sad hearts we report the passing of ART OWENS, a close friend to many of us. Art’s death, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, was reported to Joyce & Willard Murdock by Art’s daughter Lori this morning. Joyce was told Art passed on at 7:20 AM today. Art is survived by his son AJ and two daughters, Lori and Dickey. He was preceded in death by his wife Carroll and a daughter Debbie. Art was charter member #9 of the GMCMI and one of the few surviving charter members of the
GMC Classics. It is said, that in 28 years as club members Art and Carroll had only missed a couple rallies prior to their becoming ill a few years ago. Art and Carroll resided in Aransas pass, TX prior to Carroll death and Art’s moving to Gap, Pennsylvania to live with his daughter Lori. Art has been and will be sorely missed. We never go to morning continental breakfast at a rally that we don’t remember Art as always
having coffee ready when we got up. Per Art’s request there will be no memorial service. Those wishing to send condolences to the family can do so through:
Lori Root, PO Box 65, Gap, PA 17527
Willard & Joyce Murdock

This is indeed sad news. I had met Art numerous times at GMC events and he
was truly a likable guy. It was only about 4 or 5 years ago that I learned
he had developed Alzheimer's disease.
Thank you for letting us know!

I am truly sadened by the passing of both Art & Carroll, they were wonderful friends and great GMCers. Many years of fun travels and good times. Carroll called me "one eyed Bill" due to a happening at the Loughlin, NV rally. I suggested to Art we have a contest to see who could collect the most GMC MH HotWheels in one year. Art won and I conceeded but he kept on gathering them up untill he had a couple of hundred.

Great times, great folks, great rememberances, greatly missed.
