Hey All;

I'll be picking up a couple of my grandkids at the Portland, OR airport
with the motorhome as we will be taking them from there straight to the
beach for a week of dune buggying and quad riding. Does anyone have any
experience with parking a motorhome with a trailer at any airport? If I
can't get to the airport then I may have to leave the motorhome at a
WalMart and drive the buggy and pick them up. Thanks.

The Portland airport has a cell phone waiting area but turning an RV around there is gonna be a difficult task. You need to make a hard left turn from the road to the parking lot, and may not be able to. However you could park nearby at the airport shopping center and take the buggy through the terminal area easily. The shopping center is large and has lot's of room and it is right at the airport. That's what I would do.

There should be room to park at one of the side lots. You'll be taking
a shuttle from the far reaches of the parking lots but it shouldn't be
big deal.

Then again... if you're not driving your GMC they might treat you less
magnanimously... Just sayin'...

Every airport I can think of has a lot for over size or over height vehicles. That does not mean that they are required to have that space so I would call them and check ahead of time.

Portland has light rail going to airport. There are some park And ride for that rail jjust off the Airport.

I do not have personal experience with that for motorhome. You might want to call transit to see if there is parking there for coach.

I think it is a quick ride on that rail line and it goes right to terminal.

Check it out.

Or there are hotels close that could shuttle.

Hey All;

Thanks for the great information. I now have a couple of ways that this
parking thing will work out. Gotta make a few calls. Thanks again.

Hey All;

Just to finish this subject. Thanks again for the great
information. Right now Diana and I are in the middle of a week long
trip with 2 of our grand-kids. Late Monday we loaded up the motorhome,
hooked up the trailer with the buggy and quads, and headed to the
Portland airport. I parked in the Ikea parking lot (thanks JerryW)
where there is bunches of room, walked the 100yds to the Tri-Met
station, hopped on the Tri-Met to the airport ($2.00), and gathered
the kids up (10 and 12 years old). We all hopped on the Tri-Met back
to the coach ($3.30 for the kids), gathered up Diana, and headed to
the Ikea cafeteria, and ate lunch (lots of meatballs and
mashed-potatoes). Headed back to the coach, started it up, and headed
to Sandlake, OR for 2 days of riding the beach and dunes. Then we
headed to Florence, OR where we are now. Sitting at the South Jetty
day use area getting ready to head out onto the dunes with the kids.
Tonight we head to Coos Bay, OR for 4 days of dune riding. Then we
take the kids back to the airport and we go home. Don't forget to get
out there and use these things. It's fun.
