Hello all,...

I have a question regarding the bolts that hold the rear brake drum to the hub. I had to pull off a hub to replace a broken lug bolt from the previous owner (and remove the drum from the hub). I replaced the lug bolt and am ready to bolt the drum back to the hub with the bolts that hold the two pieces together. Is there anything special that needs to be done with these bolts such as applying threadlocker, and torquing them on? I read through the manuals and haven't found any information on this.

As always, thanks so much for the help!

When I did the disc brake conversion, I torqued those bolts to 80 lb ft. I'm not sure where I got that number, from the maintenance manual or a generic torque chart. It's probably a good idea to use thread locker on them as well. As difficult as they were to get out, it makes me think they had some on from the factory.

Thank you very much! We ended up using threadlocker (Loctite blue 242), and torqued them to 80 ft-lb. I think you are right, there seemed to be some sort of threadlocker or thread protection compound on them from the factory (whitish colored) on the threads.

Right, some sort of white stuff. It made the bolts particularly hard to remove. I don't remember what I used on the new ones, probably blue Locktite.
