Hi folks,

Replacing
the original buzz box with a Progressive Dynamics PD9260. The original
buzz box uses chassis ground for its (-) negative leg and hooks its (+)
to the house fuse panel.

The Progressive Manual says:
"CAUTION RISK OF FIRE:"

"
Chassis bonding wire must be a separate wire ran directly from the
Grounding Lug provided on the converter. DO NOT connect Output Negative
to chassis using the same wire."

So this sounds to me like they
want a separate wire from the ground lug of the charger/converter to the
motorhome chassis in addition to a wire from Output Negative on the
charger/converter.

Is it OK to use the original buzz box negative
cable connected to the Output Negative terminal on the PD 9260 and run a
separate cable to chassis for the ground lug ?? Or would it be
preferable to run another cable from the house battery(s) to the Output
Negative terminal and use the existing chassis ground cable to the PD
9260 ground lug ??

PD9200???? ??????????????????????????????????????????????? PD9200
(+) --------------> fuse block?????????????????????? (+) --------------> Fuse block

(-) ----------------> Chassis????????? -or-?????????? (-) ---------------> Battery (-) terminal

(ground lug) ----> Chassis????????????????????????? (Ground lug)------> Chassis

You read the instructions? How about that?
I would use the original buss box ground wire as the output negative and run a new negative cable from the grounding lug to a chassis ground point. While you are doing this, if possible, remove and clean the grounding point that is being used by the buzz box. Also, use some eletrical grease on the connections to slow down corrosion. This works for me, and it will work for you.
