Hi Steve

There FAQ suggest a 185 CFM compressor, I wonder if your 220 volt service can drive a unit that big. ;<}

When I worked for the Calgary Stampede they had a big compressor built from a V8 engine, 4 cylinder for the engine and 4 for the
compressor. I think it was a Chevy small block, my cousin rebuilt it so I can get more information if you need it.

We used to rent big compressors all the time for sandblasting steel tanks, concrete vaults, etc. They are big trailer mounted rigs that rent for a few hundred bucks a day.

That is an ungodly big compressor. Most 5 HP 2 stage compressors produce 17 scfm or less. A 20 HP 3 phase compressor only does 78 scfm. The V8 compressors run 175 scfm or so but you're talking about a serious operation and very high operating costs.

These guys are smoking something if they think a hobbyist is going to pony up for a monster compressor

I'm thinking DB 150 Dave. My existing compressor can keep up with that.
Thanks and good to hear from you.

I wonder if they have any refurbished units. Say someone wants to go with a
bigger unit after they had a smaller one for awhile. They do come with a
lifetime warranty.

It's interesting to me that the mass of the water contributes to the effectiveness of the blast media. I have "wet-blasted" where we add a water nozzle ring around the sandblast nozzle. This effectively knocked down the dust, but as we were using sand as the media, clean up was a mess.
Glass would improve this but it looks like cleanup is pretty simple with this system.
