Big hole in my bell housing [message #211762] |

In the process of replacing a leaking exhaust donut I noticed this bis hole in the side of my bell housing. Surely this should be plugged - I have no idea how long it has been open.
Question is what plugs this hole and is this a part I can find locally? My Son is leaving with the coach tomorrow morning.

Bill,
I am assuming this is the one that is normally plugged with a sheet metal cover. Temporarily you could just put a piece of duct tape over it.
Part number 390042 in the parts manual page 17-3, page 17-2 item 5.

Bill,
Found a photo (thanks Charles) of the plug I believe you are missing. It snaps into place.

Don't worry about it. Many are missing with no ill results. Nothing in
there but the torque converter.
Just don't stick your finger in there with the engine running.

I agree with Ken. Replace it at your leisure. Until then, don't give it another thought.

Mine has been missing for years. When I asked Manny about it he said to forget it as it would help cool the converter. I always mean to replace it but never did.
