Maybe we could start with something less challenging, like a replacement grill.

Would be nice, but current generation of consumer grade 3d printers do not have enough working area to even replicate a dash plate. I lust after these things, lots of fun and useful projects could be done. A Singapore start-up is aiming at a $250 price range. Be interesting how close that can get to that figure.
These will really help with mechanical parts. Can easily do printed circuit boards, but size limited.

Let's revisit the idea old school, extrude the body via one of the
extrusion presses from the heavy press program, or make the frame using one
of forging presses. 8,000 tons for the extrusion, 50,000 tons for the
forging presses.

Then again, time may be tight on these, the 50,000 ton heavy press makes
parts for every US maned military aircraft, and every Boeing and Airbus
aircraft.

Top that for impractical. But damn cool.

Yes, someday when the printers are large enough.

But:

I understand you can currently "print" a working non-metallic pistol. Plus, you can print all the parts you need for an additional printer.

What fun for the "control types" of the world. Twisted Evil

I vote for molds, carbon fiber, kevlar, and epoxy. Kerry, OTOH, will probably choose to hammer one out of an aluminum billet ...he'll finish in about the same time as the epoxy's pot life.
