My Good Sam's policy is coming due in July and I was thinking of changing to Coach Net. Most of my travels are in Canada. I have been fortunate not to have used their service.
I have not done extensive travel therefore I would appreciate some input from more seasoned GMCers.

I have used them both, in the USA. Coachnet was my better provider. I still have them.

Is coachnet's unlimited towing truly unlimited? AAA RVplus is 100 miles.

"No mileage or dollar amount limits – no out of pocket expense when towing your disabled vehicle to the nearest qualified repair facility."

Coachnet is unlimited but it is to THEIR nearest qualified repair facility. So they will tell you where it is going unless you're preferred provider is reasonably close. Basically the same as Good Sam's policy. AAA is the only one that will really tow it 100 miles if you want.

I have had all 3, currently have Coachnet and have been satisfied. I was also satisfied with AAA but it was expensive. I was NOT satisfied with Good Sam. I needed them twice in a short period of time, once for the motor home and once to jump my wife when she left her lights on while in another state. Shortly after I got a letter from Good Sam telling me (in somewhat nicer words) that I needed to maintain my vehicles or else my overuse of their service would cause everyone's rates to rise.

Basically they want to be paid, but not do much. Understandable but I paid for the service, don't send me a letter telling me I'm overusing it....

Jeremy, they tow to what they consider the best place. Our last trip was supposed to be to a new Chevy dealer in Phoenix. Of course I was not going there. They asked me where I wanted to go and I told them. They paid the mileage to the Chevy dealer and Progressive paid the remaining balance, no questions asked.
Good Sam kinda dumped me in the middle of the desert. Progressive picked up the 1100 dollar balance on that one to get me to where I wanted to go.
So, I make sure I have my ducks in a row before we take off. 2 engine failures and you know that insurance premiums need to be paid. Very Happy

Allstate's RVRoadHelp has always been very good to me for the past 15+
years. While I've never needed a long distance tow, there's never been any
question but "where do you want to go?". Sign the ticket and never hear
anything else.

The only problem so far is that support is apparently now in India, which
upsets me terribly -- and causes both communication problems on my part and
comprehensive knowledge problems on their part.

Used Good Sam twice for battery jumps in a short period of time and got the same letter that Jeremy speaks of. "Basically, we'll cancel you if you use us anymore".
Now I'm with Coach net and worry about there tow to THEIR nearest facility. They towed me 50 miles to a "qualified"shop that my GMC wouldn't even fit in the lot. I called and explained the situation , however, they would'nt budge. Ended up calling a tow truck driver that I knew from Steamboat and he finished towing me 45 miles to my mechanic's shop in Steamboat for $ 100.00.
Does AAA "RV Plus" also cover all my vehicles or is it limited to a RV?

I do believe it applies to all your vehicles, not just your RV.

They are STILL sooooooo upside down with me it's not even funny. I'll have
to remain a member for years before they break even. :)

I have both CoachNet and Good Sams. I am paranoid about what happens if I break down. I've broken down twice in the last 15 years where I required a tow.

Most recently was 2 1/2 years ago when my fairly new engine died. It was November and 10 at night on I75 not far from Flint Michigan. After realizing that i was not going to get it going again, I called CoachNet. After explaining the situation to the dispatcher, I was told they would tow me to a nearby Wal-Mart for the night and then work out what to do in the morning. About 45 minutes later a tow truck arrived, lights flashing. That guy towed me front wheels off the ground to a nearby Wal-Mart, but before the driver unhooked me, I called the store to make sure it was OK to park there. I didn't want to be told I couldn't park there and had to move, when I couldn't move. The manager said they don't allow overnight RV parking. I told the driver that and he called CoachNet. They told the driver to deliver me to another Wal-Mart. I called that store and was told, they don't allow RV parking either but would take me. CoachNet had called them to make those arrangements.

Next morning I made some calls to GMC guys and we figured out that the distributor gear had failed in my 8,000 mile roller cam motor. By the time CoachNet called, I knew what the problem was and where it could be fixed. My own driveway. The CoachNet dispatcher had wanted to send me to a GMC truck place that said they would look at it. I told the CoachNet dispatcher that the nearest qualified service facility was my driveway about 50 miles away. He said "OK, we'll tow you there, but you understand we won't tow you from there to another service facility". I said "no problem". About an hour later a fairly good size wrecker showed up, lifted up my front wheels again and drove us both home and backed it into my GMC parking spot next to my house.

A little over a year before, I was on my way to GMCMI in Du Quoin and had one my 2.5 year old BF Goodrich Commercial tires blow out on an expressway near Indianapolis. The tire was an intermediate on the driver side and while I pulled off as far as I could on the shoulder, the tire was still just feet away from all the trucking doing 80. I did not want to fool with changing the tire that close to the road. I called CoachNet. They had a local tire company with road service for trucks call me. They asked if I wanted a new tire (my spare was close to 10 years old). I said I did after explaining to them that it had to be load range E etc. About half an hour later a guy shows up, jacks the coach up, removes the wheel and mounts a new tire on my spare wheel right on the side of the road (I kept the wheel with the blowout for an adjustment)and charged me $115 for the new tire which I'm still running on. The road service was paid by CoachNet. I was so impressed by the service on the side of the road that i gave the driver a $20 tip which he refused at first but finally accepted.

I am satisfied with CoachNet. I also didn't get any letter from them about overusing their service.

I only have Good Sam as a backup, and so far have not used them.
