This weekend we headed out for Muskegon on the other side of the state, not far from the lake. We stopped in Lansing MI (about 100 miles from home with about as much to go) to go to Elderly (a music store that we seldom get to) and when we got back to the coach there was a puddle under the back end. Well, I pulled the bed back and got the pump out. This was interesting because the potable tank had been full.
I started and investigation right there on the dinette table. There was a hole in the switch diaphragm.
I'm pretty sure that new parts aren't available for PAR 3500 (later called ITT Jabsco called 36000). I'm pretty (not positive) sure I have parts to fix it at home. But, I'm dealing with really part and an even older design. This is the belt drive thuck-a-tuck-a pump. The computer told me there was a Camping World (but no Waste Marine) ahead not far off the route. I am I going to run back and burn more fuel than the cost of a brand new pump....... f
Ahead we went. Fitting the new pump was a pain, but it is a new pump not a fourth try rebuild. I'll toss the old one on my "things to fix when I have spare time pile".
So, we are all settled in at PJ Hoffmaster State Park near Muskegon MI with the water running again.
There is an Arizona colors 75 here too - they are part of the show, we aren't.

>That was actually a very good pump. At times I think that it was better than the impeller pumps of today. That old diaphram pump sure used to run well. I had one in a Dodge Travco and it just kept going and never needed attention.
I think that you can still find parts. You might have to go with the 36900 series or another one.

I like the sound of the old pump much more than the new pump's growl. This one is a four diaphragm swash plate and the noise is just not friendly. I actually have a pretty good stash of parts left for me by my considerate PO. One thing not on Defender's list was the switch for this series. The switch for a 3500 is different than that on a 36000, but they list neither. I'm though looking yet. 36950 is apparently still in production - That tooling has to be 60 years old.
