Anyone have an extra original style faucet from a parts coach they would part with? I'd like to have one to demonstrate how to repair them at rallies. Doesn't matter if it's rusty or dinged up.

The wife probably would not appreciate me taking ours apart now that I have it fixed or people trouping through the bathroom.... Shocked Laughing

Hi,

Well it seems that I'm in a similar situation as yourself: I've got a bad original faucet, and I suppose I could let you have it as a demo piece, but what I'd really like is for you to fix it. The o-rings are petrified, and the plastic diffuser appears to be broken off where a piece would keep the shaft from shooting out and hitting me in the chest. Ouch. Are you interested/can you fix this? Or do you really just want to have a demo?

Thanks,
Ken

Ken, if you were coming to Branson, I'd fix it for free but it's not worth the shipping. For the cost of an assortment of O-Rings from Harbor Freight or ?? You can fix it yourself in about 5 minutes. Go here:

There is a screw that holds the diverter in place. You may have to twist and pull to get it out if it has loaded up with minerals and or gunk.

Can't help you with the aerator

Btw, I now have an extra faucet to use to show people the process.

Kerry - we are staying in "Cousin Eddie" at my daughter's house in Atlanta babysitting for our new Grandson. SHE wanted to fill the bathroom lavatory with water and pulled the valve to start the shower.

Didn't take her long to figure out what was going on. Very Happy

Kerry,
Thanks so much for your quick and thorough fix-it on the OEM bathroom faucet. The pictures are great; the thing I don't quite get is the screw that holds the diverter in place. The pic you have shows the screw hole next to the diverter hole. On my faucet, there was a set screw there, I thought to hold the aerator in place. If I use a standard shoulder screw, does that keep the diverter in place by the shoulder fitting down over the diverter edge? Your help is much appreciated. I'll send you the new printing of our local tee shirt: "Mr. Fixit, Stuck in a World He Didn't Break", if you give me an address.
Ken

Exactly Ken.

Btw, the diverter may take some time to get out. Some are stuck and require some twisting and such to get them out.

Kerry,
I used my favorite screw, a stainless button head socket and it works great. Also, the @#!$*&% aerator was hiding in plain sight near my workbench.
Thanks again,
Ken
