Have been to about 4 rallys, and 3 trips to my son's place so far.
is about the end of the camping season here in California (too hot)
getting ready for the opening of the camping season in October (GMCWS RALLY
IN ORGN)

this weekend went to Son's house for 4 days, Gson's graduation
GMC WAS GREAT

all went well
- dry camped in street
- very hot - AC in GMC and over head worked GREAT
- took me about 50 miles to get used to driving this truck again
- have many things to fix today ( on return is best time to fix stuff)
- pulled Alamont grade at 60 mph pulling tracker
- new hard lines worked great on tanks ( no vapor lock)

life is good in a GMC

DRIVE EM , BOYS, DRIVE EM

I agree with the drive them.
2 weekends in a row I went camping.Pulling bike on trailer for the first and second times. One dry camping in mountains approx 170 miles from home. This trip was a music festival that wife let me go by myself. I already knew my fridge was trying to die, so coolers and a bag of ice a day worked good for me. Gas mileage was very poor. but it should have been with me driving in nc foothills, pulling a trailer at 75 mph at times.
Second weekend was with connections, 60 miles away with wife and dogs. one bag of ice a day also worked out as an excuse to bike ride a little every day. I drove coach like a girl and got close to 10 mpg while staying at more moderate speeds.
Becides noticing a slight change in breaking distance with trailer, it pulled it like it was not there. I love to drive my coach. I love it when people ask about it. And with me now running my gril offf my built in propane tank, life just keeps getting better and better.
If I could find good door seals I bet my fridge would still be usable. But santa has already mentioned trying to help with fridge. So I may keep the seal idea to myself.
check your fluids, and maintenance items, be smart with replacement parts, and drive them.

If you decide to make an effort to replace the seals, contact Leon Herschberger. He found some good second-hand ones for my old Norcold (in much better shape than the ones I had). And very reasonable pricing. fixthefridge at gmail dot com

Theres few reasons why I do like to drive my GMC, first is the odd looks I get, and the second is being able to use the bathroom instead of having to dig a hole!

I been driving mine back and forth to work the past few days.I lost the seam on the Radiator for the Eldo.No way am I replaceing it with platic and aluminum. I will have it rodded and resealed.I actually get better economy with the UAV cause I run 87 fuel. The Eldo at 10-1 needs premium and gets about 10 mpg as well.

Anthony,

I agree with you but for the record be advised that the aluminum radiator that Gene Dotson and John Buchanan developed is all
aluminum and is manufactured by Griffin. I have two of them (one in each GMC) and they are an excellent product.

Rob M.

Oh yea, drive these boogers. Even during the winter I drive mine monthly and always run the Onan with air conditioning on to give it a workout. I always advise folks not to buy a sitting coach but to get one that has been on the road regularly. Our coach is parked in our driveway. I am in and out of it almost daily. Having our own shower and toilet is what makes something like this so great. Otherwise I would sleep in a van. Never do we use a shower house.
Will be using our's for the next couple of weeks, starting tomorrow. Life is really good with a working GMC.

Keeping it handy is nice.
85° here. Cranked up the AC and made the bed and straightened things up
a bit.

I'm probably into it for some reason or another at least 3-4 times a
week. I'd hate to have it parked in some lot because of neighborhood
restrictions.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6263/501_Right_Side1.jpg

We don't make a lot of long trips (to SF one year and Victoria, BC
another have been the longest) but maybe a dozen 200-400 miles trips a
year.Gas prices aren't keeping me from driving it.

Taking a short 200mitrip to a Datsun car show this weekend.

Anthony,

Just remember to develop some ritual to preclude your leaving before unplugging.

This is kind of important.
I always walk all the way around the coach.

I saw a guy at Dothan who had metal strips that were labeled "Shore Power",
"Water", "Black Water", "Awning", "Antenna", etc. They were built onto
these bimetallic strips like "slap bracelets", that you slap against your
wrist and immediately wrap around your wrist. He would do that to the
steering wheel as a reminder that those things were deployed and needed
unhooking before driving off.

I have used similiar with clothes pins on my visor.
raise antenna, put pin on visor with antenna written on it.
same for electric, awning, waste and water. I try to walk around while bags are airing up, but i did see that the pins work as a great reminder.

I TOTALLY agree!! When you've got a digestive system as 'crappy' as mine, you find that the GMC literally changes the way you live your life.
