I am trying to install a Gary Bovee alternator belt tensioner and I've found that on my coach the bracket and alternator look completely different from the one Gary shows on his instruction sheet.

Here's 3 photos of what my set-up looks like:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/misc-gmc-photos/p49240-403-alternator-adjustment-support.html
My question is is what I have a standard 403 setup or do I have something "special".

From what I see it appears that with my alternator bracket there is no way that the tensioner tool that I have will work.

As always, thanks for your help.

it is just perfect
did you read this?
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/alternator-belt-maint/p41520-installation-instructi.html

shows yours exactly
and
remember, the tensioner is just to help set the tension,
the bolts on the alternator (oem) hold the alternator in place

get the belt really tight like it says here
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/5950/KEEP_THEM_STRAIGHT.pdf

look at all the other slides if you have more questions

Gene, if you look at my photos you will see, as I said, that my alternator bracket and alternator are neither like the photo in Gary's installation instructions. Yes the instructions came with the parts and, yes I did read them.

Bill, I think I see what's tripping you up, though I could be
completely off base.

You're looking at the install pics, which chow the bracket BEHIND the
alternator, and then yours, where the bracket is in front?

If so, then note that in the install process, they /appear/ to be
remounting the bracket as well, unbolting it from the engine, and then
putting it on the backside of the original mounting ear.

Yea, I think so too. Photos reversed. I have the ones from Jim K on mine. Was confusing til I figured it out.

Thanks to all who responded. Looks to me to be more work than it's worth. I'm going to look for a tool that can be used in all similar instances.

If anybody wants a set of alternator and AC tensioning tools for $30 including shipping (in the USA) let me know.
