George,
I mounted the camera (hard-wired) at the top-center of the rear wall. I used
the center rear wall fastener to secure the camera bracket (with a gasket
under the bracket to avoid paint damage). I ran the transmitter cable in the
channel between the rear wall and the body. As the seal between the rear
wall and body is black and the wire is black, the cable is not noticeable.
At the bottom of the rear wall, I routed the cable along the rear frame
cross member to the left frame rail and forward to the front "firewall".
'Had to drill that to get the cable inside. I use a 7" nav monitor with a
rear camera input. To see rearward, I tap the camera icon on the screen and
tap it again when I no longer need the rear view. The nav view then returns.
I tried a wireless camera first as the nav tool was represented to be
compatible with "most wireless cameras". It wasn't. I am pleased with the
hard wired camera as the image appears to be noticeably sharper than that of
some wireless cameras I have seen. And there is no risk of getting a
spurious signal signal from some other wireless camera. Regardless, to save
time and installation hassle, I would have used the wireless camera if it
had been compatible with the nav screen.

Finally getting around to installing a rear view camera system. I mounted
the screen just above the rear view mirror, and was
wondering where the best location for the camera mount would be? It seems
that mounting it at the top of the rear window would give
a great view, but how do I run the hookup wires? Can I drill a hole through
the fiberglass panel above the window (the small
horizontal ledge), or will I run into obstructions? Is there a better
location? My system comes with two cameras, so I can also
mount another one elsewhere if alternate views would be helpful.
I figured it's better to tap into the group's collective experience before
drilling holes!
