With my usual mechanical abilities I have screwed up once again. In walking through a diagnosis on my Onan 6000 with the help of Ken Burton, I removed the carb bowl. Seeing no gas in the bowl, I'm figuring it's a fuel problem (duh!)
Then I notice that the hose from the tank to the pump is pinched in a way that could impede the flow of gasoline. The pump is pumping.
Since it was off I decided to give the bowl a good cleaning with brake cleaner. I dried it with the air hose and as I did the bolt (nut) in the center of the bowl dropped. I have the washer and the screen but the bolt is missing.
The bowl has WALBRO USA stamped on the bottom and no other identifying marks.
Anyone have a dead Onan sitting around or a source for parts for these things?
I'm going to try to find a child's metal detector to try and locate the part I lost, but in the meantime I have a trip to florida coming up and I know it's going to be hot!
Thanks a million.

Stora is not a vendor and now lives in Frederick, CO. He has been an owner of a GMC for 33 years, has been Technical VP of BMC Western States in the past. Has been Administrator of GMC Motorhomes International (membership Manager and Convention manager), then Treasurer and is currently President.
Alex Sirum GMC is the vendor in Okeechobee , FL. Alex's son, Jeff Sirum is currently running the company.

FOUND IT
After agonizing all night I decided to call in the troops. Elise went out with the $20 metal detector and found it in about a minute. Many thanks to all who responded.

How do i move the fuel onan primer up to the door area switch?

Here is a link to Jim Bounds' explanation of the Onan prime circuit. It is really pretty simple and it really helps. It sounds like you have a good chance of having your Onan work properly once you get fuel to it.

Mickey,
When you put a jumper from 5 to 9. you should hear the fuel pump. It will make a pulsing sound. As it builds up pressure, the tone of the pulsing will change. At that point, you should have gas in the carburetor fuel bowl. If all other systems are go (ignition, timing, and compression), the machine should start.
Good luck.

OK - I think my problem is solved thanks to a lot of help from Ken Burton and, today, hands on help from John Beaver. John owns the engine shop where Ken Henderson built his Cadillac engine and he (John) owns a GMC that will be quite a coach when finished.
Having narrowed the problem down to fuel, I proceeded to remove the long fuel line to the tank. As an experiment I placed a gas can next to the tank and ran a hose direct to the pump. It started, ran roughly and then shut off.
After several configurations I was about ready to set fire to the damn thing when John drove up. We got on the phone to Ken Burton and after several different setups, John reckoned that the pump was pumping but it wasn't getting through the carburetor to the bowl.
After removing the carb and cleaning thoroughly - it really wasn't all that dirty - John felt that the float was not moving far enough to allow the needle valve to open completely. A quick bend with a screwdriver opened that up a bit.
That did the trick. Now I need to get fuel line to run to the permanent tank, but it looks like problem solved.
If this seems simplistic or overstated, I'm sorry. This stuff just doesn't come naturally to me and I revel in a success. Thanks guys and thanks to Ken Henderson for the use of his pit and shop.

Stick,
If you / John didn't set the float as per the Maintenance Manual I would suggest you do so, if you don't you could wind up with gas
pouring out onto a hot Onan and that ain't good!
I'm not going to look it up for you as I reckon as a writer you should be good at finding stuff in books. ;-)

Rob M.
