For those who live near one, IKEA has LED lights that run on 12v. Just use the LED strip and ignore the power brick. They also have halogen pucks that are also 12 v. They also have a neat battery powered LED strip that has a sensor that turns it on for a short time. I use this one in my closet.
Not saying they are a cheap source, but I always check their "as-is" or return department. Scoring $50 lights for $10 is my idea of a good deal.
