You ain't kidding. In slightly less than 6 months, I've tracked 236 GMCs being sold through Craigslist (US only). There was a lull for a few days in early April and I thought the pace was going to slow up. I was also expecting prices to firm up. I was wrong on both counts.

RC,

I'm curious; what exactly do you mean when you say "I was also expecting prices to firm up."

>ebay too

No, I take a look 2 or 3 times a week but I don't log any data. I'd guesstimate that ebay averages about 1 per week, maybe slightly more. BTW, roughly 75% of those on ebay are not on Craigslist, so it's almost a separate market.

>firm up

Recreational items are hit hard by the winter triple whammy --dreary weather, holiday overspending, and the taxman. As we moved out of March and April, I thought the sellers who had waited out the winter would factor in the better summertime market and the prices would tick up. I did see three sellers raise the price on their coaches when Spring hit but that's about all. ...And the coaches new to Craigslist lately? Maybe it's a fluke but I'm seeing better-than-average looking coaches listed for 9500, 8000, even 5000.

And the Dow is above 14k, too!

The one percent has had a recovery, everyone else, not do much. So long
term, the market will stay soft, though one would expect some seasonality.
Which you are not seeing. Hopefully, I can manage an economic recovery and
buy one.

It's certainly a buyers' market. Based on what I've seen flowing through craigslist, I believe that it is possible to find a solid, ready-to-use coach with Alcoas and/or new tires for $5k.

I will probably buy a third coach over the next 12-18 months. Since I am in no rush, and with the seeming deluge of prospects out there, I have recalibrated and limited my own search to some very specific requirements. If I lived near a more GMC-friendly area, I don't think it would even take 12 months to find.

A job. I'm a Unix sysadmin in the San Francisco bay area, I came by the
Treasure Island rally last year. I got divorced last year, and think a
minimum place for me and a GMC for when I have my kids. I'd want a 26 with
the bunk/couch (3 kids, so 4 beds are needed). I'd prefer a 73-75 so as to
avoid smog here in California.

So I'm mostly just lurking and learning.
