I recently purchased a GMC 78 Royale. In transfering title we find the VIN number doesn't match the coach. Title lists VIn 1188403463. The DOT thinks it might be the block number or other tie to coach and the title can be corrected with the coach number. Does anyone know where I might find this number on the coach. The proper VIN # is on the coach. Thanks for your hlep.

When I bought mine the Washington State title and registration listed it as a 76. Tag in the glove compartment clearly indicated it was a 1978. Once I provide the proof of the VIN formatting, the clerk corrected it.

The vin# should still be a TZE number even though it was finished by coachman. The coachman number is their id number. Should be a TZE368V10XXXX

I suspect you, like me, have a coach which was upfitted by someone other than GM, and thus had a sticker stuck someplace - beside the driver's left knee in mine - with the upfitter's VIN on it.  Mine was registered in Florida, where the DOT gerbil proceeds out and identifies the VIN.  Much easier to use the one on the sticker than to open the hatch and read it off the patent plate.  So I am (slowly) going through the motions with the nice lady at the Georgia tag office to get the coach registered with the correct TZE number.  After which I can treat with my inshoance peddler, etc.

The TZE number should also be stamped on the frame on the drivers down a little bit from the front wheel upside down on the frame. That assumes that you have an original frame. Any other numbers should be considered upfitters serial numbers. The TZE number on the plate inside the passenger side engine front door is the VIN of the coach. Any other number as Johnny has described can cause you real headaches trying to get it registered or corrected.

Getting things corrected by any BMV is a real pain. I have a friend named Terry. Somehow they changed his driver's license from male to female. It took him several years to get it corrected.

By all surveys, DMV's are the most hated government run departments. I'm having a fun fight with VA. For some reason, they refuse to believe that MS is not part of VA. Moved in April, 2012 and they still send me c**p.

I've bought a couple of cars in VA - one of which still had the VA inspection sticker when I parked it in Roanoke 6 months later.  Got a letter later from the PO - who has moved - saying they saw his car with an expired sticker.  They missed the Georgia plate on it, but they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer after all.  Anyway, they claim they have a bench warrant for this po' bastid, should he ever get stopped in VA, for failing to reregister a car he sold me some while before.  Better him than me, he's someplace in Iowa now and the car is long gone to the crusher.   The mind boggles.

As my Canadian friends are so quick to point out, If you think health care
is expensive now, just wait until it is FREE. OBAMACARE?? Hmmm. I just
bought a policy that was sold through the Elks similar to the Coachnet one
offered by FMCA. $109.00 a year. Covers lifeflight and coach and spouse
return to home station. Canada and Mexico as well. Kinda bridges the gap
between health insurance and motorhome insurance. Worth a look, at least.

G'day,

Downunder it seems to work pretty well. We purchase private health care to bolster our public healthcare. You don't have to do that
and you can rely on public health care. It's not perfect but it seems to work pretty well. However, if you do not buy private health
care you have to pay an extra levy when you pay your income taxes.

For Helen and myself it runs just under $4000 per year. If we need an operation we don't go on a waiting list, we get to pick the
hospital we go to, get a semiprivate or private room depending on the procedure, we get to pick the surgeon and as long as they
charge the "scheduled fee" (what the government says the operation should cost) we pay nothing.

I had a prolapsed hemorrhoid several years ago. I went in for surgery and was put in a private room (hospital's choice). There were
three doctors in attendance at my surgery, the surgeon, the gastroenterologist, and the anesthesiologist plus a nurse. The day after
the surgery I walked out (a perfect a$$hole) and it didn't cost me a cent.

Regards,
Rob M.
