Come on, post some pictures. You know if I was there we would have photos everywhere. I am sorry I could not make it. Enjoy your day today. We are in the middle of a flood over here on The river. I am hoping it misses you guys. You don't have to have wifi to post pictures. I know some of yall have phones with data plans. Or, just run down to Mc Donald's. Who knows, the Dollar store at the end of the drive may have wifi now. I can see those guys sitting on that bench now, beside the pit, giving advise to the "grunts" down in up under the coach. Very Happy Teri, Gene, and Jim put our radiator in there in that pit. Rolling Eyes I was the photographer. Hey, maybe I can throw up some photos of years gone by. Laughing No one would know the difference.
Have fun.
Dan

Dan, can you please ship some of that surplus water over here? We're in the midst of a drought, like 17% of normal snow/rain, and we are desparate!

Dog gone George. I wish I could send it your way. I was out twice today in the vdub. Glad I got a 12 volt wiper motor. Rainx just does not work well in town, on a straight up vw windshield.
Dan
what about that stock market today?

Oh no. Just looked at the weather map. Rain left here and looks to be over at or near Bean Station. Guess the barn will be full today. Better drag in another bench for the "supervisors".

Not raining yet. We're about to leave the motel. Not supposed to do much till later today and the heavy rain come in tomorrow. At least that is what the local weather guessers are saying.

Considering they can't accurately predict dark at midnight, we could have snow by noon....

On iOS Dark Sky gives very accurate short term forecasts (1 hour for rain),
handy for figuring out if you need to take an umbrella to lunch, Cloudy Sky
uses the same data on Android. Plus they have a web site.

I was gassing up at Hucks in Kentucky just off I 24 at Land Between The lakes when a guy came in with a trailer with a two row VW Pickup which he said was a '66.  Had an original looking visor over the windshields.  I'd never seen a two row seats and short bed before.  He said he gave 15 Large for it.  Looked good, was in prime, had a set of aftermarket mag wheels on.  He vetted my GMC while I went over his VW.  Talk about relative rarity, that's half again more than I gave for my cvoach.

vw crew cab. They are rare, and worth lots. I wish that was not the case, because they would make an awesome toad. Hard to believe that you can buy a vw thing that was only imported a couple years into the US in pretty good shape for $10,000 or less, but try finding a crew cab in any workable shape for less then $10k.

(reserve not met)

they make a single and a crew cab. they had them most of the years, both in split windshield to 67. and rounded windshield, and even made some in the vanagon years.

You guys need to go to effingham the first week in June for the fun fest. Park next to Dan, and enjoy those old VW's. $15 for a couple days of entertainment and camping. can't be beat.

Yep, what Jon said. Basically a free weekend of camping on 160 acres of grass. I have a ball there. No working just a participating observer. Once they did park me in the hippie bus area but for the last 3 years they have seperated the motorhomes from the rainbows. But, I had no complaints. Everyone brings their kids and I have not smelled anything in the air to cause me to think Willie N. might be out there somewhere. Good prices on new and used parts. I will be picking up a couple of new parts at the 10% rally discount.
My 9 year old grandson will be making his second appearance this time.

John & Rob,
Your right the pricing on these is quite high as they are very hard to find. While we were out in Tucson a year age there were several that we saw running around. Always ran into one at the hardware store that was the pickup version and not the crew cab. He was getting it ready for paint and interior. I asked him what he wanted if he was selling it and his reply was $30K. If you watch Overhauling with Chip Foose they did one of these for one of the shows. I saw it for sale a year later for $100K.

Yeah, I had seen the single seaters, just never a two row.  Interestingly enough, since I've been married ('69) there hasn't been more than a couple of months we haven't had a VW of one genre or another around the house.  '62 Station Wagon, '67 Type III hatchback (my fave) '74 van, 88 Fox wagon (second fave) three '81 Jetta TDs, a number of Bugs, and the current Toadstone.  I'd get out of it for a Thiong, but around here people ask the world for Things.
That one on eBay is a rustbucket and he's over 10 Large?  I'll pass.
