I am running BF Goodrich tires on my coach. That is a personal preference only. If you have been happy with the Firestone tires, and they have provided good service for six years, why not continue to run them?
One consideration would be to use a brand of tire that you can get nationwide service on. As you travel, you want to be able to get warranty adjustments anywhere you might be when a tire problem comes up. Some regional, off-brand tire might not meet that requirement.

A Hamilto.. Not to get to much off topic, but on the 16" rims you bought..do you remember the number on the rims? I keep running across a few sets but unsure of which will work.
Thanks Joe

| I didn't look at the numbers. You want 8 lug on 6.5" center, Bolt hole dia .670", Hub bore dia. 4.567" (4-9/16"), and shaped like this:

If they meet those specs, are made for radials, are shaped as shown, straight and not excessively rusty, that is what you want.
Post here if you need more info.

Reference to MSG #200915. I wrote a somewhat detailed discussion on GMC/Chevy 16" OEM steel wheels and others added their thoughts.
Numbers that work: 28177. and 27994. 280581 is LUG Centered and not desirable for our coach. 280581 also has a lower weight rating, per wheel stamping.
On my opinion on tires, since the vehicle suspension was designed with bias-ply tires in mind, you should look at PolyWall tires to keep the "softer" sidewalks for similar ride comfort. Many are happy with all steel tire construction. I'm very happy with my PolyWall tires. I've had two new sets of these, the latest from Wal-Mart, strictly for the large number of stores with their no hassle warranty coverage.
Good luck,

Dennis,
Check out America's Tire Company locally(they are everywhere, almost) or online.
In Southern Cal they are offering a Cooper 225-75-16 load range E tire for $97. If your local store doesn't stock it, they can probably have it shipped in.

$1000 .. might as well be $10,000 lol I've decided to make "Odie" a hover craft. Hes in hover mode right now not a tire touching the ground.
Really not quite ready for tires. but was looking for rims to to have and maybe sand blast and paint when I didn't have anything else to do.
Devin and Brian thanks for the offer but think I'll try and find some around here so I can have my tire man spin them and make sure they are true before I buy them.
Maybe I'll win the Lottery this weekend and buy aluminum ones, then I could run with the big dogs!!
For now I'll just keep sitting on the porch..lol
