In preparation for new brakes I decided to get all the suspension parts
powder coated and to clean up the wheels wells.

Most of the sealant between the plastic wheel well ('73) and the frame
was just globbed in there and a lot of it was popping loose. I took it
all out.

First question - what are the wheel wells made of? I know it's
poly-something but don't remember the "something".

Second question - what would you use to reseal those areas. That's bare
plywood edges we're seeing now and it's still in pretty good shape.
HUGE gaps to fill in the area on the left side of the picture.

I'm leaning towards polyurethane caulking unless someone has a better
idea...

Thanks in advance,
Kelvin

Here is an email that I sent back in 2003 (I keep an archive of some things).

I had this problem when driving in the rain a few years back. The carpet and floor between the bathroom module and the closet would get soaked. I sealed the seam where the plywood floor meets the bottom of the wheel well liners with some black pollyurethane sealant and it solved the problem. If you look closely just above the plywood you will probably see a little crack. Seal the front , the wall opposite the tires and the back of the liner and it will likely fix the problem.

I used PL sealant that I bought at Home Depot. It comes in black and other colors. One tube says t is made for foundation sealing and also a tube that says "Windows and Doors" and another tube that says concrete. They are the same thing even though they have different labels.

Isn't that interesting. Ran all over the place during my lunch hour
(1-1/2 hour, today)
Came up with this as the best option...
http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/pl_seal_rf/overview/Loctite-PL-S30-Polyurethane-Roof-&-Flashing-Sealant.htm

Again... probably the same thing with a different name.

Also found Sikaflex 221 at an RV repair shop. Twice the price but it's
what they use. So $48 vs $24.
Going to run it by our "Glue Guy" and see what he says.

Thanks!
Kelvin
