This is for the GMCer that needs a new toy. Raise and lower your coach using your phone. If you have an Aerobed air bed you could also control it. We were sad to find out that it won't work with our rotary phone but don't let that stop the high-tech folks.

Two coaches at Bean Station were using those little cheap backup remote cameras from Autozone or somewhere. One was trying to back up and he was getting the picture from the coach next to him. It was funny because it was not my coach. Wont mention who it was but I do remember. Very Happy I run a rear view system all the time. When I turn the key on it comes on. Its a hard wired camera system, 6 inch monitor, with night vision camera, that I built a few years back. Really not hard to run the cable so it is hidden either. Spent 150.00 to build it then. Now you can do it for half that and have the large screen. We never open rear curtains.

If you use this set up for a rear window camera the laptop screen needs to be reversed left to right. Can this be done on a laptop?

Jim, it's been a couple of years since I've worked with usb cams but flipping the image seemed to be a basic a feature of the (some free) software I tried. BTW, I was using Win XP sp3. As cams have become commodity items, I'm told that some laptops now have stream mirroring built in (Asus was mentioned). At any rate, a quick search turned up several free programs but I'm not really familiar with any of them.

I'll add that this wouldn't have to be restricted to just one cam. Software can split the screen for multi-cam monitoring. Motion detection is common, too.

I just found this one, as an example

BTW, the cam isn't weatherproof but at <$5 I'm not sure if I'd care.

BTW2, 16' is the limit for usb but that cable has a repeater in it. That's the longest I've actually used.
