Anybody seen covers like this before? Heavy stainless steel. These came in the goody-box that came with my Royale. PO (Bryan Wheat) thought they may have been prototype wheel covers for the now defunct Wheat Motorcoach Company (WMC).

Those wheel covers have been around for a long time. Used to see those more often when we were still mostly using the 16.5 steel wheels.

Sure, PM me an offer. These are heavy stainless, not aluminum. I'll need to figure out shipping costs.

I have a set of GMC caps as well.

I'll be going with 16" Aluminum wheels once this set of tires wear out.

They were not Wheat prototypes. They were made by Stan Grueninger who had an Oldsmobile dealership in Cincinnati. They were called "Safe-Guard" wheelcovers and held on by two Allen head bolts. Originally cost about $150 per set. I have them on my Gmc and have seen a few others with them.

Here are my and Alan L's GMC's with the covers:

Thanks, good info

I don't think these have ever been put on a vehicle. There's some sort of paint or film stuck on the outside face. May have been some sort of packing material. I'm a bit hesitant to clean it off. I'll take some pictures of the face side next time I'm going through the roof pod where they're currently stored.

Is the OEM wheel tapped for these all ready? Or, is that something the owner has to do.

Want to sell them?

Edit: whoops, snooze you lose. I would be interested in a set of stock hub caps if anyone has a set gathering dust.

Those discs are SS and the lug nut hold them on.
We have them in our used stock.
I'm on the road to the Convention in Dothan.
Been pushing the 403 hard and still pulling 8-9 with 3.70.
Froze this AM when our standard Thermostat on engin stuck open.
I did my stand by trick and blocked off the air flow.
I Texas we were driving over 80 mph as the limit is 80.

Jim:

You are not correct. They are not held on by the lugnuts. One can remove the lugnuts without removing the cover. You can see the 2 holes for the Allen screws in Richard Andis's pictures. I have first hand knowledge of this plus the "product review" link I posted indicates you need to drill 2 holes in your wheel to fasten them.

Jim H, There has been some negativity raised from the California group
steming back few years.
I cannot talk about negativity, as I have and will do so, but not for
International.
Kim brings forth a refreshing view of working with the chapters in the
West, so were hoping to bring it ouy West with consideration and trust that
we will not make the type of mistakes as I saw done.
Sometimes few small mistakes are harder to get over than One big one.
Being dragged onto the board again, I feel Kim and Emery Stora
will address it way ahead of time.
How did you know about my package?
