My 78 Royale has ULTRA alloys - look very similar to the Alcoa's - and for some reason I can't figure out - has a very long 2.375" lug nut.
Now very rusty chrome plated steel lug nuts that look bloody terrible. Twice I removed them and with a wire brush and polishing rogue managed to buff out most of the rust - at a great price to my now permanently deformed thumbs! Alas the last time was too long ago and now they are past it - a bit like myself.
Calling Gorilla - they do indeed have a lug nut the right size in stainless but on checking availability they are priced at over $6 apiece. I want 50 so that's outside my budget.
Anyone know if I can put a smaller - not as long - cheaper lug nut on without the whole coach falling apart?

Anthony,
It would be helpful to know exactly which type of lug nut those wheels use. Are they the cone shaped ones that center the wheel onto the lug bolts? Or, the mag style with the shoulder, like the Eagle wheels use, or are they flanged like the original steel wheels used, or do they have washers like the Alcoas?
Also, how far does the lug bolt protrude past the face of the wheel? There is no reason that I can think of for extra deep lug nuts unless you have extra long lug bolts.
Pictures?

Your local Camping World or other RV supplier should have stainless steel stamped lug nut covers that slide over the lug nuts you have. Just an idea, covers it up, does not cure it. Cost is $12 per wheel. Take one of your lug nuts with you to double check the fit.

Sir: The wheels you have I believe have mag seat type lugs. Page 2 of Gorilla Automotive explains, You need to remove one to make sure it isn`t a tapered seat. Your thread size is 9/16", measure your shoulder diameter and shoulder length and how far the stud sticks out past the wheel. There are probably others that make the stainless mag seat, but this one popped up.
