I might have posted this already. If so, blame it on the drugs.
Tom Phipps and I are going to install 2 new windows in our coach at Dothan. Teri and I have been putting this off for a long time but have been gathering windows one at a time. Our plan is to do the passenger's side bedroom and the door. This should give folks an idea of how easy this can be. Teri and I will do the rest of them when we get home as we also have a new headliner to install. Even if you just want to Rand R your old windows this demonstration should help. We may do it inside the building, depends on a few things.
If you need an old window for bedroom or door, speak up. These are not coming home with me and will be left in a dumpster.
Dan

Dan,

If no one wants the complete window assembly -- please save me the latch and the catch from the old ones.

Thank you!

Dennis

Bring a pair of aluminum nippers. Sometimes the corners of the hole in the body needs to be trimmed a bit. Also the bedroom windows are the hardest because the body curvature is slightly different back there. Talk to Blaine.

We were up at Blaine's when they were doing the windows. I know what you are talking about. Now, if you can make it we will let you be the #2 advisor on this project.

Dan,
When I changed out my two rear windows, I found that the hole was not quite big enough for the new window. I ended up using a metal rasp to file burs and other obstructions so that the window would go into the hole. I then found that the new window when centered and straight, would not (quite) reach out to the new paint lines. So I did not trim the black sealer in that area. Maybe I should be #3? Wink

Sounds good to me Larry. Tom Phipps is in charge. If we can do it inside one morning that will be where we are. I got to work the tables after lunch each day.
Which reminds me, you guys need to be looking at Jim K's website, or your catalog, to see if you can save shipping on some of this heavy stuff.

Just let me know where and when and I'll lend assistance if needed.

A great GMC project takes one or two workers and several oversight personnel. On my Avion the Avion holes were perfect, on JohnR's Avion, we had to trim the heck out of one. I have heard that some of the early coaches, the window openings were not well cut. We will see when we get it open. Get a bigger hammer, Tony.
Any one who is interested, I have the large modern window for the 23' GMC available, and I will bring it to Dothan if someone wants it.

Tom, is the 23 foot large window smaller than the 26?

Yes, it is Without going outside in the dark to measure it, it appears to be an in between size, between the small bedroom window and the large front window in a 26".
I'll post tomorrow the width, as measured from the inside.
