Just in case yall can't tell, I am addicted to the conventions. Before I retired I would run home from my office 3 times a day, everyday, to look at the pictures that Arch was posting. I was shaking all over wishing I was there. Just no way I could leave the office for that long to attend. I was there through Arch's pictures. Good things come to those who wait. Since retiring in 06, we have only missed one convention. We were in Oregon and the convention was in Delaware. I just could not get the GMC there from where we were or we would have gone.
September 06 we rolled into Berrian Springs, Mich. I came around the corner and what did I see. Close to 200 coaches that looked like our's. I just stopped the GMC right there and looked for 10 minutes. I knew we had arrived.
The latest and greatest for our coaches always presents itself, first, at these conventions. The vendors have so much stuff available for our coaches that one can barely take it in. You need a special part, Frank Jenkins or the Curtis' can make it from fiberglass. there are others who can build or have built most anything you can think of. Just visiting with these people in person is awewome.
We did not buy our GMC to attend conventions but we quickly became a member of the family. We were taken into the group just as you will be when you show up for the first time. Open your mouth and visit. Don't be shy. Everyone is friendly. Oh, I might get ticked off at Jim K. and have a frown on my face for a few minutes but hey, I always get over it soon and am back to my normal happy self. I mean, you try to hang out with the guy for a week and see if he don't tick you off. Laughing I love working his table, just kidding. Why he chose me, a non mechanic, to help him sell his wares I may never know.
So, come on. If you are within a day's drive, I promise it will be worth every dime you put in the gas tank to get there. Several will drive for 2-3 days to get there. We can't all go, but Teri and I mark our calender a year ahead. I pester Kim for the next year's convention place a year ahead. I have to know where our coach needs to be when we are traveling for the winter so we can make it. I don't want to miss another one like we did in Delaware.
Hope to see you there.
Dan

Dan I can identify with that Berrien Springs feeling. That same convention was Cheryl and my first trip and convention and when we pulled in to that place my heart raced, my eyes widened and my mouth fell open it was an awesome sight.
See you and hopefully 200 coaches in Dothan.

Glad you two are coming. Teri let out a joyous noise when I told her.

When I read this thread, I just had to chime in.
My wife Elaine and I, will be coming up on our first year with our GMC "Scooby Doo" (April 2012)

Dothan will be our first convention in our GMC.
We are so excited about so many things at the GMCMI convention.
I am anxious to see the faces and shake some hands of the people who have wrote in to all the questions we had, on the GMC.net forum.
And, have helped us understand our GMC and how it works.
I never feel alone.
We had no idea of the GMC community out there, when we purchased our GMC.
It has made owning it, just that more special.

Elaine & I just love our "Scooby".
We are in it, whenever we have spare time.

Looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks.

Sincerely,
Glenn & Elaine Gardner Smile

Can't wait to see you. New attendees get to help me with ice cream one night. That way you get to meet everyone. No one misses the ice cream. We are looking forward to see several "first timers" at Dothan.
I made a statement earlier about Mac the dash guy attending. Can not back that up so I am retracting it. I guess I dreamed that Mc Neal and his wife were coming.

Looking forward to meeting you. Speak up if you see a guy in whiskers. It
could be Dan and it could be me. His has more gray than mine though I'm
older and smarter.

PS. Do either of you happen to play a flute, violin, or clarinet? I need
someone for Sunday AM.
