Joe, I ain't never seen anything like that before.
Hey, you got Holley tappet covers on that engine? They look just like mine. Had to cut a groove in the pass side one for the ac
compressor to fit, on mine.

Now that is cool but not in the right place in my opinion. Its a mod that is on my Definate top priority list to do eventually. Its kinda like a big old Cadillac limo
has AC in the back and the front on one engine drivin Ac compressor.I would extend that extra evaporator with a squirell cage fan to cool the whole front, without using the rooftop.

Boy, can you even get to the hatch to remove it? Looks home designed. With no cooling, did you check the refrigerant level. It may have leaked down. Replace with Duracool for better cooling and cheaper costs.
The OEM A6 compressor has more than enough capacity to drive the extra cooling. Compressor is not a problem.
Good luck.

JoeC,
These coaches, especially the early ones, had very marginal ac so many owners have added a second evaporator and fan running off the engine driven compressor and the original condenser. Yours is one of those. It is a secondary evaporator tied into the engine AC system. Someone might be able to id the unit itself if you remove it from the box. The evaporator and fan most probably came from a mens mall (junk yard).

The rear AC unit of my Royale runs cool for a while, then blow warm air. Is replacing coolant something I can do or be done at Bean Station? Anytime I take my coach to an RV repair place I seem to drop a lot of money.

Joe when I got my coach it also had a aux ac unit installed.
The po had cut the hatch cover about 8" from firewall and hinged it, because the unit sat on that part of the hatch cover. hatch worked fine but I could not reach the power steering pump, water pump, etc. When i removed it and the complete hatch it made a great deal of difference.
My AC unit is a A*R*A brand.. And guys it needs a new home!

| What did you do with the leftover case/cover and louvers and stuff? I would love to have something like that to install a secondary evaporator behind the cockpit seats to cool the passengers back there.

Everything except the front louver unit is still under there. I just moved the switch to the front of the unit.
