Gene,
I know that Roger Black responded by saying to have patience. That's OK
for him to say but it isn't OK for me.
It seems that for each GMCMI convention you feel the need to chime in an
do the same thing. I know this is at least the third time I'm aware of.
There may be more.
Most of those east of the Rockies have learned to ignore these "jabs" at
GMCMI and the small handful of leaders working to quickly assemble the
program and all the details. I'm not in the "most" crowd and never will
be. I'm a true child of the 60's and a free thinker.
Here's my suggestion: If you can do a better job of getting all of this
information together as well as securing commitments from the vendors
three months in advance, just give the word and I'll see to it you get the
job.
I've never noticed anyone from the right side of the country being
critical of how things are done at a WS rally. Have you?
As to the interesting part of the rally, it may be only you. For most
vendors the rallies and conventions aren't profitable. They are a
liability. It's hard to measure the ROI and for those who aren't retired,
they can't afford to show up where it isn't profitable.

You haven't gone to a GMCMI convention in years so I really doubt that you had a ticket to cash in.
You make the same statement about vendors before every GMCMI convention.
Having had to line up the vendors for many GMCMI conventions I can tell you that many of them don't know if they are going to attend until right before the convention.
Kim will post a list when she is closer to having the identity of those attending.

Gene,
This isn't going to be your day. I have one more comment, jab or whatever.
You may have asked a question but the fact that you tend to do it
repetitively and in the same manner leads me and others interpret it
negatively.
Besides what Emery has already mentioned here's some more to consider.
WE HAVE VENDORS. In fact, this won't be the first convention at which
vendors have a choice of displaying within a building or outside in the
elements. You might say GMCMI has vendor rows. On top of that we always have
a flea market/parts exchange area for those faithful GMCers who have only a
few items to sell or trade where "tire kickers" tend to gather and have a
good time inspecting, dissecting, dreaming, or just talking.
As Emery stated, many of the vendors make near last-minute decisions to
attend. As you know, many of them aren't as young as they used to be but
they're always welcome to attend and mix with the crowd that's present.
Getting a complete list together in advance is nearly impossible and I think
you know that. Some have web presence and some don't really care. Some are
on the GMCnet and some have outgrown it and enjoy life in other ways.
We'll likely see more good stuff there than any person will have the time or
money to put into their coach unless they have a well-endowed IRA or healthy
retirement program beyond Social Insecurity.
On top of that, there's the open house where anyone can see lots of neat
ideas implemented by others as well as interesting paint schemes (some ugly,
some beautiful) and a wide variety of modifications. This convention will be
no different than any others -- there will be new folks in attendance and
some not present who've made their last ride. But, there will be vendors and
information flowing freely from one person to another. It will be great.
When it comes time for the gathering in Branson this fall please don't copy
and paste the same email asking about vendors, etc. They will be there.
Also, try to keep from bringing up whether information is held hostage or
not. You have your opinion and other, well-respected individuals have
theirs. Truth is, there's enough information out there to keep a working guy
busy reading for months. Plus, those seriously or casually interested manage
to get to the forum or GMCnet where they get their questions answered. In
addition, those so inclined also discover the Facebook group for those of us
with social interests. The only problem that I see is that there's too much
information in too many places. Some of it is well organized and some of it
is plastered on websites in shotgun fashion. Most importantly, however, is
that information on these aging wonders does exist in plentiful supply.

Gene,
Something isn't making sense. If you don't care any more then why bring
anything to the attention of an audience like you just did? Is there
something to be gained from such behavior? Twisted minds want to know.
By the way, if more than 35 registered people show up it'll be a great
rally because wherever you get a bunch of "birds of a feather" together
they always have a good time. It's the way we're made; birds, too.

Then, what the hell are you trying to stir the pot for? I'm sorry
but, I'm tired of hearing about this every 6 months. We can't please
everyone all the time. If you're not a member any longer, you don't
have a dog in the hunt. Work on making Western States perfect and
we'll keep working on GMCMI as best as we can. You get what you pay
for.
I have a lot of respect for you Gene regarding your knowledge and your
website but it's getting old your hitting on GMCMI without being a
member/participant. And, if you are/were a member there is a
procedure where you can voice your concerns with your Area VP that's
in the club and not on this forum.
That said, if any member of GMCMI has a concern, idea, etc., please
contact your area VP. Contact info is on the website. I'll certainly
appreciate any queries that head my way. Just be civil.
This is strictly my opinion and not necessarily that of GMCMI.

what I asked was
what vendors are going to be there and what new products are they going to
show
(like Frys new hose)
I was on the way to fly out to see the vendors
I did not poke, or jerk anybody
the attached note said we only had 10 days to sign up
I had a flight reservation, and was ready to sign up,
after all, JimB will be there -- first time in a long time--
and vendors are my passion
but
you say you do not know who is coming
so
if the vendors are not there I am not going
no big deal,
cool out guys
and have a great rally

truth is, - i have not found the bottom of the info on the net and it is getting close to a year ago that i got caught.
I am so amazed on how you can find a new source of info that you learn another little bit that means so much.
Like RobM saying you can make a loop to the vacuum pump and not have an elbow. this little info can save your life. Less entropy in the system.
The information on these sites and i only wish i could go to one of these rallies with or without venders just to talk and see
all these great participants that own these great devices. Info can save your life. If you drive for a living like i do for 24 years and see people killed
everyday on the freeways of south ca. you can realize the important deep integrity of good info on parts, support, and honesty.
That is why i get so mad when service is not honest and do not give receipts. A persons life depends on information and honest service
with information of why and what for how much with the parts held to show what went wrong so it doesn't happen again.
These facts are needed as a matter of life and death. best regards to all.

This whole string has me confused. First, you have 10 days to have your registration post-marked for GMCMI Dothan or you have to pay a couple extra bucks for late registration. Not exactly like you get shut out. I just had a nice email conversation with Kim yesterday about my registration and she was quick to respond and provide answers. A great help.
Second, the lineup clearly shows JimB, JimK, and Alex Sirrum all participating in seminars, so it stands to reason they will be there as vendors in some capacity. The information talks about indoor vending space as well as outdoor space.
Seems to me like it is reasonable to conclude that 3 major vendors will be there. The last time GMCMI was in Dothan I know Grandview was there and maybe KenF as well. I'm sure Ken H is planning to attend with his wiper mockup, and I do remember meeting Dave Lenzi last time as well. Will we see Mac and his incredible dashboards? Frank and his fiberglass? Does it really make that much of a difference about whether you are planning to attend to know ahead of time? While I could be wrong, I expect to see the usual faces.
Whole lot of fussing about nothing important...
Thanks,
