I have wiring diagrams, faded old real factory service manual and multiple Fluke multi-meters.
In the drivers side of my 1975 Palm beach there is a fuel selector valve and the 3 wires, black, tan-white and tan, from the connectors (connectors in place) are broken off about 12 in forward and were zip tied to the fuel "manifold" running forward to what I assume is the filler assembly.

My question is which direction do these run forward to the dash selector switch? I am assuming they got caught on an obstacle and got broken. I see nothing within the radius of the cut to give me an hint.

Loom rearward to the fuel pickups and senders intact.

Thank You,

Jack

Jack,

There are the two harnesses that meet at the selector valve.

One is the harness runs forward to the selector switch at the dash. Mine runs along under the floor in clips near the frame rail. This harness comes to an end near the selector valve with two connectors, a mate a two wire connector and a single connector for the selector valve. The selector valve also needs a ground. I have never followed it forward of the rear of the engine room. It does come thought the same path as the fuel and fill vent lines.

The other harness that collects the two sending units and grounds (4 wires total)for same to a single two wire connector and the single ring for the sender ground. Be sure that the ground wire of this one on on something that will be an adequate ground.

While you are under there, pick up a ground and measure the resistance of the two sending units. If they don't show something sensible between 0~90, you do have a problem.

I hope this is a help.

Matt

On my '74, and as shown on the wiring diagram for an HEI '75, the fuel selector wire and the tank sender wires run from the instrument panel in the body side harness (connector square 10) and pull out of that harness and drop through the floor opposite the fuel selector valve outside of the frame rail. From there it runs to the selector valve and over to the fuel tanks. There is a two position connector listed as "left frame rail ahead of main fuel tank". The selector valve is grounded through it's mounting feet to the frame. The fuel level senders have a ground wire harness that connects to the frame.

So go looking outside the LH frame to see where the wires have broken off. If you want pictures and/or measurements let me know.
