I am strongly considering replacing my original Coleman it works but is very noisy and the exterior is unsalvageable. That said, I'll probably buy 2 and add it to the rear, what problems, if any may I encounter moving my vent to the middle "hole" .
Will the existing circuit reach the front hole? One thing for sure, both units will be heat pump. Open to suggestions and recommendations (and coupons) Thanks in advance!

Sean, I switched the front vent and a/c on mine. On the '78 the framework for the vent is integrated into the vent assembly so when the vent was removed there was no frame in which to mount the ac. So a frame had to be fabricated. Was't a problem just something that had to be done. Replaced the power line to the front ac as it was too short and I did not want to cover a junction box in the ceiling. If you add a rear ac you will need to run electrical to it also.

I have only one heatpump in the rear and it works real well for me. Those heatpumps put out a lot more btu's than the strip heat. I don't know how they work at 0* but I won't be in the GMC at those temps anyway.

Thanks for the insight, My sentiments, if its too cold for the heat pump to work, I probably made a wrong turn somewhere. Rolling Eyes

In my experience the heat pump will be generally effective down to 40
degrees F. That means you should expect for the system to be inefficient
if it drops lower. That's when the gas-fired furnace comes in handy or
some other form of electrical heat from the floor side of the coach and
not the ceiling side. Of course, if you're going to use the heat pump the
assumption is that you can plug in two 1500 way heaters of some type and
still remain relatively warm if you continue to drink coffee and have an
electric blanket for bed time.

We have used the GMC down to a low of 26 without issues such as freezing
pipes.

I bought a Dometic and had it put in my 23' when the Coleman finally expired.  I've been most pleased with it.  Although Dometic notes in the literature that the heat function is 'to take the chill l off' rather than to replace a fuirnace, I've not run tmy electric heater since I got it.  (I haven't yet inspected my furnace, so I don't run it)  The fan, like all non-ducted A/Cs is fairly noisy but doesn't keep me awake.
