I have the steering box out of my 75 Eleganza. It is worn out but i was wondering if it's worth anything to anyone. It's heavy and dirty so i don't know how much shipping would be. Might be more than it's worth to ship but someone in the NY area maybe? It was very loose. Replacing it solved a lot of problems. Its just sitting in my garage leaking and taking up space. Let me know and it's yours.
Thanks...

No NY'ers interested? I could meet half way. Shipping is going to be close to $100 with a box and packing if it goes as far as CA. Gets less as it ships closer. Also a hassle dealing with the UPS store.
Let me know....thanks

Dave Lenzi is in Michigan. A steering box might fit in a USPS flat rate box with some careful packing. "if it fits, it ships" is their motto (up to 60 pounds).

I shipped two boxes of rear axle hubs 700 miles for $40+ through USPS.
I just shipped Peter B in Australia a speedometer faceplate through USPS
for $7.00, where DSL wanted $115.00 and UPS wanted $95 to ship.

USPS can be very cost effective when shipping. The flat rate boxes are up to 75#. Should fit in a large box.

Be sure to wrap the I/O splines and threads with some cardboard and lots of tape. Otherwise they will eat their way right through the cardboard and get all jazzed up. Ask me how I know.

I'm located 45 minutes north of Plattsburgh NY. I'm interested in the steering box if you aren't in a rush to part with it. It would help if I knew more precise where you are situated.

I'm down around Newburgh not too far from NYC. I do travel up your way once and a while. I'm also going to look at a flat rate box as well, but I dont think it will fit with the pitman arm. If it fits I can send it to Larry if your still interested.

Thanks, I do appreciate that. I'm not in a huge rush.
Maybe see if it fits in an old Igloo lunch/picnic container thingy you may have laying around, jam a bunch of fabric (torn clothing, etc.) and just tape it up real good. As long as it's jammed in tight with taped on rags on the sharp parts, the plastic casing should hold up just fine.
