Hi, Jeff... I'm nobody's idea of an expert but I'm local (SW Mesa). I'm a fair shadetree mechanic, and have crawled around in (and under and over) my GMC enough to know how most of it works (or at least, should work). I might be able to cast an eye on a local rig for you to at least separate the obvious wheat from the obvious chaff.

Thanks to all for all their help. I tentatively purchased a 77
Kingsley in Tucson today (assuming it passes the team physical).

No but it is close to Mike Cherry but they are wintering in Wickenburg
AZ send them an email at( captjack@sonic.net) they have all the

I ended up going to Tucson yesterday afternoon and tentatively
purchasing a 77 Kingsley that was in great physical shape. I am
having a once over on it by a mechanic before finalizing. If that
falls through I will contact captjack. Thanks for the info

Jeff... c'mon, buddy... when you're looking for a GMC, it's supposed to take many months, agonizing over every possibility. Then you fly and/or drive around and check out some "great deals" that end up being six wheel garden sheds. It's also important that you find some spectacular deals, but only five minutes after someone else buys them and drives them off into the sunset.
At least that's how I did it... 
Seriously though, congratulations on finding a serious candidate coach so quickly. Hope to cross paths with you so I can check it out (assuming the inspection goes well, that is... we ARE talking about an antique motorhome, after all...).
