I'm making my side entry door 5 inches wider for Linda's powered wheel chair. We have a 26 ft Royale. If someone that has a 23 ft GMC could tell me the overall width of the window ahead of the side door. And the width of the sliding glass section. And the fixed section. I would be grateful. Input WELCOMED. Bob Dunahugh E-mail, or cell 319-521-4891 CST. Iowa

Bob,

I'm confused by your request. The only window ahead of the door on a 23'
is the cockpit ("toll") window, which should be identical to that on a 26'.

Bob,

To put it another way, the door on a 23' is immediately behind the cockpit passenger seat. There is no window between the door and the cockpit window. If you want the measurement of the window BEHIND the door (or any others) let us know and we will get you the numbers.

The windows on the GMC 26' or 23' are all the same size. The it is just the placement or deletion of a window that make it fit on each length coach. The big in the front, the small on the door and kitchen side and the rear medium are the same on all coaches and for the most part are located in the same spot of all of the coaches.

JR, you are 99% correct, there is a different size for the galley window in a GM floorplan 23' coach.  I have only seen it there and in full window Transmodes used as shuttle buses.  Other than that odd bird yes, there are 3 window sizes.

JB,
Thanks for the information on the ODD sized of the galley window in the 23' GM floor plan and Transmodes shuttle bus models. I was unaware there was a small difference in size, is it small or larger, I suspect that it is smaller. I will file that away for future reference.
Again Thanks!

JR

Bob,
Gene is right here, the cost, labor and time required to do this modification will far out weight the cost of a travel electric wheel chair that would fit the door. Not saying that you should not widen the door but a reasonable electric units is a get and go not lose months trying to get the coach modified. Do you need a wheel chair style or can you use something like an amigo? Once you get a larger wheel chair in the coach it is limited on where it can go inside the coach without major removal of interior parts. Just brainstorming with you!

From just looking at pictures of GM up-fitted 23's, the galley window looks to be a little smaller than the "bedroom" windows.
Here is Kelvin's newly repainted 1973 23 foot Glacier:

(Note: I would have guessed it was a little bigger than the bedroom until I checked Kelvin's picture.... Shocked )

On some 23 ft coaches, the window behind the door is different from any other coach. It is about 2 inches wider than the door or galley window. On other 23 ft coaches the window is the same size as the door window. We always ask for the approximate size for the window behind the door before shipping one.

I just went out with a tape.  My Noris upfit 23' galley window is 37 inches wide including the gasket.  The window behind the door is  59 1/2 including the gasket.

I have an uninstalled large window from a 23 ft GMC that measures 28 1/2 in. That would be the raw size of the hole it would fit in. This is the inside measurement, not the outside edge to edge measurement. This is a window from Gene Dotson. It was removed from a 23 ft, and available for purchase.
P.M. If you want it or need it. Delivered to International Rally in Doltan or Bean Station.
