Johnny,
I totally agree. St. Jude's does an awesome job for these kids. I met Jason on a plane years ago, & he called it "his" hospital. He was blind & bald from his cancer, 4 yrs. old & it was his birthday. Sat next to him & his mom; he played with my hair, I read to him, told the plane load it was his birthday, & they all cheered for him. His mom later wrote to me & Jason had scribbled on the paper for me. His face is ever before me & I treasure the opportunity of meeting him.
Dan & Teri,
That's wonderful news about Effie! God IS Good! Rejoicing with y'all. Hugs always!

Spoke with Dr Kathy Knapp at a show in Starkville, she says St Judes is going great guns and thanks everyone for their support. We'll be doing the annual 'Radiothon' for them on all our stations in a couple months.
Yall support St Judes', it's a good cause.

Mid Dec they took the tumor out, which they found was completely dead from 4 rounds of chemo. No more chemo needed. She will be an "out" patient at St. Jude's til her 18th birthday. The family will get to move back to the Nashville area mid Feb. My son is back to work now.
Thanks for all of your cards, emails, and prayers. We are heading to Memphis early in the morning to visit with them. They are still in an apartment just outside the gates of the hospital in a gated setup. The doctors continue to check our girl almost daily and will for 4 more weeks. That is one fine hospital for children. We are fortunate to have gotten her in there. They helped our family with 4 kids in many special ways. What a blessing to have such a place with such caring employees.

Good news, indeed! Now everyone in your family can breathe a little more
deeply with a lot less sighing. The good fortune of being there paid off. Do
we dare ask for good visits for the next 16 years? Yes.
And, I'll add some thoughts for the others under their care.
Let's not forget that Danny Thomas and the whole family help put this
wonderful place on the map. It's a good example of how to use fame in a
responsible manner. It sure beats the way many others with big names let the
attention get to their heads and forget about moral and ethical responsibly
we should have to each other. We're all in this together.

Byron, I may of posted this story earlier but it bears repeating. When the first 'radiothon' idea came out, we jumped on it as a charity here. Danny Thomas came by for the day, and I found him late that evening sitting in our lounge looking very tired from a long day of taking calls and talking it up on the radio. I asked him how he had picked St Judes' as a charity to support. He said he'd been there talking to a surgeon who excused himself syaing "Excuse me, I have to go watch a kid die." He said that sealed his conviction that he'd do whatever he could to keep that scenario from ever playing out agaiin. Through his efforts and many others, although it still happens, it happens much less often than when he started.
