Seven steel wheels from Southwest Wheel, item number 29587. It's a 16 inch
wheel with a 4.56 (4 and 9/16) hole and an 8 lug 6.5 inch bolt circle.
http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/p-1835-29587.aspx

It'll run about $720 for the wheels and another $110 for FedEx ground.

I'm on a budget or I would get pretty alloy rims from JimK. I'll be putting
in an order for some Onan exhaust parts as well.

Tires will be Walmart due not because of their stellar quality, but because
of the fact that there's always a Walmart around.

This weekend I will put at least the Royale, and possibly the Palm Beach up
on the jack stands I built.

I believe Jim K has some steel 16 rims. Call him before you commit to the non-GMC vendor.

Oh, I didn't see steelies on his website. I figured he was into the
alloy-only biz. I'll certainly chekc with him, because I do want to
support our GMC vendors... also, maybe I can combine shipping on that
muffler. :)

Jim K probably has more stuff NOT listed than listed. IIRC, when I was looking, he mentioned that he had some good used rims. They will be round and true (not as close as alloy, but...), and he stands behind his products.

Robin,

I clicked on the link and noted that the photo is of a wheel with a domed center section.

Before I bought them I would suggest you send them an email advising that you intend to put these wheels on a GMC motorhome and in
order for them to clear the front wheel brake calipers the center section of the wheel must be domed.

Ask them to confirm that they are domed and not angled.

Robin, What Rob said. That is a lot of money. Just make sure they work on your coach. If I was in a position to loan you the money for Eagles, I would do it. Hate to see you buy steel wheels if you really would rather have aluminum ones. You can always get most of your money back for Eagles or Alcoas. I don't think the steel ones will be worth a lot after you mount them. I am like you and pay cash for my stuff. I would buy 2 aluminum wheels til I had all 6.
Just some unwanted advice. Very Happy
Dan

I called Jim K. He's going to see what he has in the way of steel wheels. I
do want to support our vendors, and as long as it's reasonable I'll be more
than happy to buy wheels from him instead of Southwest wheel. For sure I'm
going to be ordering a muffler and other Onan parts as well as the black
tank, for which he has some ideas on what I can do that will give me a
better plumbing system than when the coach was new.

Hi Robin

Check out these photos of what you need for wheels.
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g5763-steel-wheels.html

Don't forget to price in new nuts and potentially the squash plate that some
wheels need between the nuts and wheel. I don't know if this is just a Ford
thing or if GM used them as well.

Lug centered Eagle wheels are only $140 each so $108 for steel that may not
fit may not be a great saving.

Jim K may be able to save you a few dollars by providing lug centered wheels
instead of the hub centered ones.

Dave

I understand going to the smaller aftermarket alcoa wheel, but why not just stay
with stockers until all out shine.there is a plethura of tire choices in 16 but still
a handful of choices in 16.5.Or do you have a couple that are bent?

I thought I posted before somewhere but I just got 8 tires 6 of them mounted and balanced at Pep-Boys for $84 a tire. They are 16.5 Futura Scrambler, made in us by cooper.Load D 2500lbs per tire at 65 psi There also is plenty chinese that are not
too,too bad either like a Road King or Power King those are E load almost 3500lbs
per tire and are more like $99. But the Tranceforce seems to be the one that most
like the best at $150 a tire so yes it is expensive.I should get a few years out of them
and hopefully by then I can afford Aluminum wheels and I really want a Visor!!!!

IIRC: One of Robin's coaches did not come with any wheels at all!

Correct. The plan is to put the stock rims on the palm beach replacing the
junkyard rims i usef to limp it to the storage lot and get modern 16s for
the Royale.

In the day, Southwest had the special GMCer deal on Alcoas. But I think those days are gone. That's a lot of money for steels that could get you part way there in aluminum.
