G'day,

John Sharpe got a recall notice from Harbor Freight and asked me to pass it on to the GMCnet.

Quote:

SAFETY RECALL 19.2 VOLT CORDLESS DRILL

DRILL MASTER ITEM# 96526

The metal components of the black trigger switch can wear down over time and with extended use allowing for metal to metal contact,
presenting an overheating or burn hazard.

Consumers should STOP USING THESE DRILLS IMMEDIATELY.

Call Harbor Freight Tools' at (800) 444-3353 or send an email to recalls@harborfreight.com Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and
4:30 pm PDT to learn how to replace the drill with a new model drill from Harbor Freight Tools.

Please note that the same model drill with a grey trigger switch is not subject to this recall.

In Cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

John noted that he took three of them back to the local Harbor Freight store and at first they wanted to give him three 3/8" drills.
He pointed out that they were 1/2" chuck drill so they gave him three of these:

To save the Harbor Freight naysayers time writing emails I offer the following:

Harbor Freight sells crap; it is all crap, has always been crap and will always be crap. ;-)

Rob M.

Did Rob's "odometer" just roll over?

(He DID have the highest message count on the forum!)

Harbor freight sells tools that are good for that tool you will need only once in a while, or for large projects where you need basic tools for a bunch of temporary contractors who will lose or steal them anyway...

Their Larger Air Compressors are actually pretty reliable. I had one that ran for years on a daily basis. I think those are made in Mexico.
