I carry that map, and while it is interesting. it is not really very accurate.

For starters all road fuel sold in Michigan has to be crapahol. This is result of an agreement between the EPA and MiDNR. In the deal, we have no vehicle smog checks, but pay for that all year so those in Detroit can drive their "Smokers". When I bought fuel at So. St. Marie, it was at least 8%.

When I get fuel at Alexis road just into Ohio (cheaper by 0.10+), it is always at least 8%. I find that true in most of Ohio.

This map does NOT show state initiatives. This shows federal EPA agreements. This shows Federal agreements with or dictates of the EPA.

The renewable fuels act had nothing to do with emissions. It dictated that all states would sell a certain percentage of craponol mixed in with their fuel and the percentage increases annually. They left the implementation up to the state individually.

The whole thing is one big mess.
