Looking at Towd brake systems and this one appeals to me from a lack of intrusion with the hydraulic systems standpoint. Seems simple and effective in principle.

Anyone use them? Like, dislike, better way?

It's been used by a lot of folks and certainly has the advantages of
simplicity and a sort of proportionality. But,. there have been quite a
few folks who've had trouble with it too. A former GMCer & neighbor of Dave
Greenberg, highly capable mechanic, prolific home-built aircraft builder,
showed up at Bean Station with a new Saturn with NO front brakes. Due to
Ready-Brake (or a similar inertia/cable system) malfunction. I've known
several others though I don't recall any other specifics.

If I were very dissatisfied with my $30 toad brake, I'd do it again using a
pneumatic pedal PULLER (connected by cable to the pedal) with a regulated
compressed air source (perhaps from the coach's supply). A simple tail
light operated SPDT valve is all that's needed to control the brake
application. Proportionality is not, to me, a big deal, but there are such
valves available -- Fred Veenschoten uses one selected from his steam
locomotive sources -- a common brand name I can't recall.

It looks to me like a more straightforward solution than most others. I've never been impressed with the "Rube Goldberg" apearance of the Brake Buddy.

Much cheaper too. If I read their website correcty their "Ėlite" towbar includes the braking system for less than $1,000. Add the backing plates and the whold thing should be less than $1,500.

had one for a few days, could not get the gmc to quit fishtailing
while towing.
used a conventional ball hitch arrangement and no fishtailing. problem was
definitely with the ready brake, not the braking part , but the
instability. The
company was unsympathic with my plight, and I sold the ready brake to
someone else with the caveat that it caused instability for me.
