Can anyone recommend a GMC mechanic in the Raleigh, NC area that can get
this parked GMC rolling?

I have parts, but a lack of talent and ambition. Here's a short list in a
priority order:

1. get intake manifold sealed to head so it doesn't leak coolant.

2. complete installation of reman. carb.

3. replace brake system; parts on hand. including lines, cylinders,
booster, and parking brake system

4. from there I might like to drive it away and see what's next.

Work here or I can have it towed.

I'm flexible, but it it either going to get rolling or gone.

Hi Ken,  I would first check the GMC 'Black List' to see if you have a GMCer in your area. If not, Camping World is near by at 2300 Highway 70 East, (just east of I 40) ~ Tel: (877) 883-2267 The work Camping World has done for me has been excellent with reasonable rates. Good Luck. Keep us posted.

Or call RDs Service in Gastonia and ask Steve if he'll do the work... and get it towed down to him.  He does excellent work for reasonable prices.

Not being a smart @$$ here, but if that is the case, you will need patience and dollars to substitute. Lots of both, or you do need it gone.

Thanks guys! Jim B suggested someone in Atlanta if I don't want to pay for
a tow to Orlando. He also suggested I get AAA for RVs as they provide free
towing up to 200 miles depending on grade of membership.

There is still too much going on here, but at least there is some
consolidation going on.

Oh, I do have to add that I am on the Black List! I know several of these
guys and they have been a big help, I dare not ask again without being able
to do something for them, whatever that might be. I am going to mess with
it a bit and see if I can't get at least driveable.

I would suggest that you not worry about direct payback to blacklisters. It's sort of a "what you can, when you can" type of thing. If someone feels you are imposing on them it is up to them to politely decline assistance for what ever reason they have. Your payback for the blacklist assistance you have received is when someone calls you for help.

I have no expectation of any payback from anyone I've helped. The only thing I want to see is that they are working on their problem to the best of their ability and knowledge but need more help. Thus your "mess with a bit" comment is good. However I would caution you to not "mess with it" so much that now it is "broke really good". (This sorta goes along with the saying "if it ain't broke, fix it till it is.")

Hopefully I will never have to use the blacklist for anything other than contacting people I "know" when I'm in their area so we can meet in person.
