I'm finally getting to it and trying to get some things done.
Right now I'm looking at adding a vacuum gauge and a tachometer. There is a
combination gauge Tac Vac that fits between the other two gauges and goes
for around $300. Has anyone bought and installed one of these? How is it
working? Anybody have a different suggestion?
Thanks

Bernd,
I installed a 2 1/8 Sun 0-5000 Tach top center between the guages and a Sun air pressure for the level system below the speedo and a Sun vacume below the fuel/oil/temp cluster. The seperate guages are easier for me to read. I don't know how to post pictures but If you will send me your email I will send a couple pictures. Mike memorton@charter.net

I installed a tac-vac about 3 years ago and it works great. No problems on
installation.

I have bought quite a bit from Jim K, maybe that's where I saw it. It's a
bitch when you know you saw it but can't recall where.
Thanks for the memory jog

I just ordered one this afternoon!

The manufacturer's website showed
a price of something like $366.

Jim K was cheaper than that!

Jim K. is always cheaper, when he can be. And, you can not beat his warranty.

Same here.
I don't where I pick it up.
Helped my neighbor rewire his horse trailer today.
Nice earthy smell under the trailer.
Explained again using the water, pipes, pump and bucket idea.
One more guy who has a better idea of how electricity flowed from his pickup to his trailer.

A lot more fun to work on then a 20 plus year old horse trailer.

I'm still amazed when the owner of a local auto shop asks me to explain a relay in a wiring diagram. Or explain parallel and series to one of the technicians.

I was one of those kids who was constantly taking things apart, and usually putting them back together successfully (but not always, then or now!). But when it came to electronic stuff, I couldn't discern what was going on, how it worked, or how to fix it. That led me to ham radio, vocational tech school in high school, and an electronics institute later on. The culmination of that will occur when I go out and wire the trailer lighting plug on my Volvo later this morning... ;)
