After a long thought process I have finally come to the conclusion that it is time to let my 1976 GMC go. We really never took her anyplace or should I say she never took us anywhere. I just kept putting money in her and hoping this economy would turn around and I would be able to get back to work. That said, after two back surgeries and looking at knee surgeries hopefully coming this next year, it does not look good for me getting back to work.
SO I have decided to let my GMC go.
I am not going to post images anyplace, if anyone is interested I will send them images of exactly what they want to see.
It is not that she does not run, she does. I believe she has the original interior and original paint.
I have replaced the waste tank, she has a macerator and the updated headlights
She is also set up for towing which I am including all the gear at least on her end.
I put in a new furnace when I bought her, new timing sprockets and chain
She has a rebuilt carb
updated wipers
new body pads
I know she has an electrical issue but I know where it is but since I can not bend or contort to get to the added device a "friend" put in which is where the electrical drain is. I have not been able to fix it, but there is a possibility of my still having someone do that for me yet.
She is under a roof as I built a section next to my barn for her to stay out of the weather, last project I was able to complete.
If anyone knows of anyone looking for a good coach please pass this on.

Kim,
I know you came to this decision very slowly and with a good amount of
remorse. But, as you well know, reality is what it is. Fortunately,
I was close enough to retirement to limp along a while before collection
on that federal retirement program called Social Insecurity. The economy
going south in 2008 has taken it's toll on many of us able-bodied people
with job skills. There just weren't enough jobs to go around for hiring
someone at the age of 63. I didn't put my age on any resumés but it
doesn't take a real smart person to figure out that they year I finished
my master's degree was quite a while ago.

Byron,
Yes it has taken awhile for me to face up to the reality. While I am going to sell it, likely at least for now I am not going to advertise it other then the GMC forum, only because this is where most people interested in GMC's hang out and also let other people know where one might exist. With this economy as you are well aware of, very few people are buying into motorhomes and fewer into GMC's, so why waste the money or time advertising it. I figured if I can get 15-17K for her it would be OK but not even 1/2 of what I have into her. What I have done is all mechanical and no cosmetic work. so I have her in a open garage but out of the wind, rear up and I start her up every other week for about 15 minutes. Which should be enough at least for now. Letting people know word of mouth will either do it or not. Who knows maybe something will happen with the economy or just maybe I win the lottery.

Change the oil every now and then. Running these old carbureted engines cold with the choke engaged allows a lot of raw gas past the rings.
