I've been wondering why it was so quiet on the net recently and happened to glance at the digest emails I get and see that there are a bunch of email posts that don't show up in the forum.

Has it always been that way or is something up?

Something has been wrong, I think since early Saturday morning. I thought it would get fixed as soon as the sysadmins noticed it. I don't know if they have noticed it yet.

Yeah, the website was down most of Saturday for me. I guess any email-initiated posts were lost during that period.

Something is still broke. Only 4 posts on the forum today, and those 4 are from forum members. Nothing from the email side.

I sent Batman1 (the contact button) an email this morning. Admins get a ton of crap emails (I know this from the forum I run) and it's quite possible he won't see it. I don't know any other email for him/them or even who it is????

I wonder if the archive on Google Groups has both types of posts recorded?

It seems to. Lots of stuff there that isn't on the forum.

Kerry,

Yes, since the outage on Saturday -- apparently posts by email users are not mirrored on the forum -- but forum posts are being sent to the email list.

I am only using the forum but in checking the google group see that Rob and Dwayne have replied to a thread I began -- so my apologies, I did not ignore your posts -- I had not seen them.

And, Now that I am back online (sort of) I did read them all in the digest that I get at another @ddress.
So, they are collected somewhere.

Looks like the forum slowed down tonight and finally
failed catastrophically... Max users exceeded in MySQL error being
reported. Let us all have a moment of silence, followed by sympathy for
the sysadmins that pick up the pieces from here.

>failed catastrophically

That happened a couple of times or the sysadmin had to reboot the server more than once. There was a time that the forum site was back up but it showed no posts --but you could read them if you hit "Todays Posts" up in the header. Weird. I'm guessing that the database was corrupted or the logs accumulated to overflow and maxxed out the system. Either way, thanks sysadmin!

>missing

I think there are one or two made late yesterday (probably between the reboots) that are missing. If I find a copy of the one I made and verify that it is indeed no longer on the server, I'll repost. No big deal, either way, mine certainly weren't seminal, must-read material.

Posts from email users missing this evening. I am afraid the link from email to forum has malfunctioned again.

Yeah, gmcnet still has a split personality. It seemed to be working for a little while, but maybe not. I don't know who-posts-from-where so it's hard to say if we just has a flurry of furom posts and it looked like it was working by email, too.

Anyway, I documented it and sent the link to the moderator.
