My thought is that this is going to be a sort of specialized project management and to do that I need a customized blog. I need it to present (at least) 4 options to the user:
1- Blog View: The most current articles/posts. In descending date order. Dec-Nov-Oct (I don't like this, but it's the standard now.)
2-Journal View: What's happened overall. A timeline. In ascending date order. Oct-Nov-Dec
3-Grouped By Topic: Posts/articles grouped by specific interests. As an example, there'd be sections on Pump Maintenance, Winterization, etc. Each group would accumulate (in date order) related posts under its heading no matter when they were made.
4-Related Articles & FAQS: These are timeless/evergreen but still need to be merged into the above "Grouped By Topic" section so that if a user comes to read about Winterization they see all related articles along with the actual day-to-day stuff.
Post once, write it 4 different ways. Static, no database on the server.
I have it working in late beta for the first 3 of the 4 "views" for Retro Chic and don't see any real problems integrating the 4th. See sig if you're interested. It's live, but I haven't activated the email address yet.
