While it isn't a bad looking coach, there isn't anything in the ad to justify the $65k. (And I do NOT think he typo'd an additional zero.... $6.5 seems a little low as an asking price.)

Agreed Mike...

I actually sent an inquiry to make sure that he didn't mean to say $6,500 Smile

More power to him.

I suspect that it'll be on the market for a very LONG time at that price. I would like the market to go up so that his coach could command that kind of price... I have three, so I'd make a killing! Twisted Evil

I certainly didn't intend to bad-mouth anyone nor to start a discussion of that flavor. You're right.

I thought it was an interesting coach with extremely low mileage.

Apologies for offending anyone.

I have always wanted to know why people put the word "original" when talking about the mileage. what else would it be? can you get after market mileage? imported mileage? added mileage from another vehicle?

please note the above is my attempt at being funny.

I enjoy ads like this because they raise so many questions in my mind. What is the whole truth???

Nice coach, nice paint, wheels/tires, windshields don't look fogged, chrome looks good, original mirrors. Considerable work inside, looks like original dash with some modification, probably original gauges so since no new odometer/speedometer would consider mileage not to be reset, indicated mileage is either correct or 100k rollover. Whoa..... that big dog house, why would an engine with only 9k miles have a dog house.....modified, why.....replaced.....why....hmmmm. That blue sticker to the left of the drivers knee looks worn or torn, why would that be with so little usage?

Wouldn't it be interesting to know more about what went on here....

Just thinking.....

I'm NOT bad mouthing him. I am just pointing out that the ad does not justify the asking price.

-- It is called constructive criticism. --

It is entirely possible that the coach is worth every penny of his asking price but _THE AD_ does not reflect that.

To explain:

If one is selling a coach that has "hidden gold" inside (a super-duper motor, gold plated frame or something) the ad NEEDS to reflect it. Even better would be a link to a full spread web site that documents the full value of the coach.

For example: I have a VERY had time believing that "9k Original Miles" and would need some kind of explanation why the coach only averaged 230 miles each year for the last 39 years. (And considering that the coaches were DRIVEN when delivered the miles become even less believable... with the coach being over 2000 miles from the factory.)

All I see in the ad is a nicely painted 1974 coach (looks to be an Eleganza SE) with some add-ons. Nice wheels and flares (that I really like) but the additions (upgrades?) inside the coach are not integrated as one would expect in a coach at HALF the asking price.

As I have said, it would be nice (for me) if the market allowed him to get his asking price. I have three that I could get into similar shape for less than $10k ...each. (All my '78 would need is a paint job, so it would be a it less.) I could make a nice profit... if the market could justify the price.

I am not holding my breath.

Bottom line: More power to him. But he should not expect a quick sale.

Mike,

Don't think it is an Eleganza SE since they used the 3 spoke steering wheel and saddle colored dash.

If the 9000 miles is correct, then the owner has put more time into upgrading it, than using it.
Engine seals will be dried out to brittle now from lack of use.

Bad mouthing might be a little harsh... but I think I have to stand by the guys here if they are upset by someone asking what is probably a pretty crazy asking price.

Everybody that owns a gmc hopes that he would get that price, and that years ago, that price was probably on the mark. We want these to hold value.

However, and the side of the fence I am on, it just pains me to see people asking a price for a coach that is so far fetched, that it has a slim chance of selling. that is usually the start of coach that is going to rot away.

I have come across many coaches that share that story. Been sitting forever because someone wants big money for it. and 3 years later, I can still drive by those coaches now with the weeds covering the dry cracked tires that used to be new. I know one in particular that he wants 16K for. it was worth a couple years ago, maybe 10K at best. but now it is probably in my book, about a 6K coach. curtains are faded now, dash is starting to show signs of cracking, tires are shot, and with that would be all new brake lines, gas lines, and everything else rubber. Just upsetting seeing these things rot.
