The GMCMI Rally is The Spring 2013 convention is on Dothan, Alabama which is in the southeastern corner of Alabama.

I am looking to buy a GMC motorhome so I am going. I just booked a room and the reservation is CONFIRMED. I am going to drive from the Houston and drive with my car and drive on March 23, 2013 and see you on the March 24th.

Come on over Robert. You will hear about and see nice coaches for sale at the convention. The best part though is that you will meet the nicest folks around. The conventions are for men and women both. Lots of things for the ladies so if you have one bring her too.
Looking forward to see you there. Being able to buy a "roling coach" is best. Not one that has just sat in a driveway for ten years. So, if you see it there, it is likly a "rolling coach".

I do have a RV that has been parked for over 10 years. I got a Honey RV from a ‘friend’ and they told me it was in great shape but the first rain storm the carpet got flooded and nothing worked so I am going to give to charity and look a new (older)one can help find the prolembs before I get stuck again.

I have a list of things I would want.

I want one that is drivable, not a park model. Then I want to take a year off and look at the country.

Nice though Mike, he can't take up another year for Canada. You can drive a GMC in Yukon, NWT, Numavut, North Quebec and Labrador most of the year. Laughing
Is it really true that Canadians don't even use snow until it is a year old?

Robert,

We have all heard that set of stories before. One of the good things about a GMC is that it is not a stapled box of aluminum on pallet dropped on a truck frame. While the can be damaged by roof leaks, they are not easily destroyed by them.

Three things you should do before Dothan:
1 - Find the site that has the official floor plan diagrams and start thinking about what you most want.
2 - Work the local Craig's list and go look at every one that is in striking range.
3 - Decide if you want a 23' or a 26'. The 23s have few floor plans and are basically sort of rare as they were only about 12% of the production.

Hope to see you at Dothan.

Matt

Robert, good thinking on a list. I also had a list and found a coach with 13 of the 15 items I had on my list. We drove down to Austin and picked our's up. It had been a club member's coach, 2 of them. I knew it had been used and taken care of. We paid good money for it but the thing brought us home, 900 miles, without a hitch. Took a detour through La. Now, there wont be any warranties on these things. We have put two engines in our's and it had a new one when we bought it. Just one of those deals. The GMC is great for touring our country, and Canada. We have put close to 40,000 miles on this thing since I retired in 06. They are real head turners.

The places you mention I wouldn't want to drive in the summer. I think
they're a bit isolated ...but that's me ! <g>

As for last years snow, on the East Coast we don't get a lot because of the
Gulf stream, so for special occasions we may have to truck a bit in from
the US...probably where the rumor comes from.. <VBG>

Mike in NS...who spent the day putting the bikes away ...winter is coming
soon!
